you'll get Murdered by the z06 .. it aint like your typical V8s like Mustang GTs & Chargers

you'll need a Turbokit & Push atleast 450whp to hang with one

A lot of these guys are speaking the truth. My Evo retains it's stock bottom end but the head is upgraded minus porting, and I run a FP Red. That has landed me approx 470hp VD at 29psi. A friend of mine has a slightly modified Z06 that has 550whp. In the 1/4 I beat him everytime but he traps 6 more mph than me pretty consistently. I do not mind the Evo's acceleration after 100mph, I feel mine continues to climb as fast as I need it to, and of course Supra guys will dog the Evo's top end - that's really all they do!

My Pops has a 07 C6 Z06 as well. I love those cars, much different from the EVO's. A long time ago when my black EVO was stock turbo with bolt ons and cams, it hung with the Z06 all the way till 4th gear then he pulled away. We did a 1st-4th. I was surprised it stuck with the vette, but the Z06 was spinning. Those cars need a good tire. To keep up with the Vette on top end will need a turbo upgrade but nothing too crazy. Fp Black or Red on some E85 will do the trick. My RS is making 340WHP with about 4 bolt ons and were going to the track in the spring opening day to see how the cars do against each other Take your time while looking for an EVO, there are clean ones out there.

I drag raced against a C6 Z06 and just BARELY beat it with ~350whp and a passenger. I was faster until the 1/8th, and after that he started gaining very rapidly on me. We passed the finish line almost neck and neck.

I will only add that there is a TON of misinformation in this thread, from people claiming a "buddy" had a Z06 in a year they didn't even make them, to people claiming their <400whp evos are capable of keeping up with a properly driven C6Z.

These are two completely different animals, and your best bet is to plan on major mods, starting with suspension goodies to give you an advantage in the tight stuff. Good luck!

A good suspension setup with nice tires and brake pads will allow you to keep up on track with a Z06 (and a driver mod of course.)

In the straights, I'd think an E85 HTA Green-ish evo (460-500 whp) will blow away a stock Z06 no problem, even in trap speed.

That being said, I'm looking into a C6 Z06 as my other fun car, as with bolt-ons + E85 + tune they can hit 600-670 whp all motor with almost equal torque and the handling is insane. Having 300+ wtq at 2000 RPM sure must be nice for daily driving, btw...

I got one of each,

Very different, the Z is a much longer legged car, it pulls 90 in 3rd and 160 in 4th. My evo is a 400hp stock turbo car. It has run abest of 12.0 at 118. The Vett has run 12.1 at 125. I am not a pro drag racer and I only hit the track in the Vette once. Handling the Evo is a raw hands on car where as the vette has a set back feel, with all the nannies.

I have tracked with several Z's as well and the Evo will keep up in the tight stuff but when the yaw control allows the vette and driver to feel more confidant. I am sure I can hang with a Z at the track if I suck it up and take the Evo to 100% (the evo is better then I can drive it)

But to answer the feel and power question. I doubt you can make a small turbo car pull and drive like a big motor car. It may be as fast it might be faster but the feel will be diffrenent.

here is my bone stock C6 Dyno. First run is loaded dyno second is unloaded. Notice the faster rev on the second.

Would building a VIII be any harder than building an Ix and how about handling

i can tell you 480 whp on a stock block and green...can beat a stock zo6...stock c6z dynos 430-450 whp...definately from a stoplight...and pull them really good till 120...if your a 60-160 only guy you will need 4.11 gears and a biggger turbo and built engine 800whp...to walk a modded c6z/zr1...maybee even a twin turbo lambo...few videos on youtube...

Check youtube, there are tons of Evo's beating modded C6Zs, and supercharged C5Z's

My tuner said 500whp on his dyno will trap 130mph(which it will), that is faster than 99% of stock Z06's, and even most lightly bolt-on ones.

So yes, with 500whp you CAN beat a C6 Z06 through the 1/4 mile, my bet is the Z still passes you top-end though.

On average a stock C6Z will trap 125mph. I've been around and driven plenty of Corvette's, I know exactly what they're capable of.

I just watched the video, it raced a pump gas TTG, which was not built by UGR, therefore is no good. Also clearly a driver who has no idea what he is doing in the Lambo. Plus they were practically dead even... Besides the point though.

That same Evo would not keep within 30 cars of a R version Underground Racing Gallardo.
I've personally witnessed an UGR TTG's putting 30+ cars on a Hayabusa that traps 150mph+.
That Evo is very slow in comparison.

I do think 480whp would beat a stock Z06 through the 1/4 mile, but I have no doubt it would be able to pass you top-end. Gearing/aero comes into play, and the Evo is lacking in comparison.
