Evo vs z06
*I hate when people hate on my simple questions as I will do with the OP right now.
But here's the truth. Speaking in quarter mile terms.
No stock Evo will hang with a Z06 after 2nd gear. Period.
Spend 4-7k on your car and you'll beat a stock Z06.
Don't buy an Evo if you're major concern is beating your fathers Z06. You will be disappointed.

This was never meant to be a race thread. I just wanted to know what it takes to get that kind of power out of an evo.
I had a stock C5Z for a daily driver, traction problems got old really fast. Car was set up with an aggressive alinement, loads of negative camber, so the rear tires didn't sit square. We are at over 3,000' elevation, so the car was down on power compared to sea level, ran 12.9 at 110 in the quarter at 3,600' elevation in Hobbs NM. But on days where it wasn't 80 degrees, and the tires were cold, it was horrible. I really don't mind spinning that much, but cold summer tires tend to give you horrible drive line wrap. But I do miss the 3 gear pull, I loved downshifting to 3rd at 60, and just letting her wind out.
