New guy that wants an Evo :D

Yo EvoM population. I'm a S2K owner and 2nd Gen RX-7 owner. I'm here to shop around and learn about Evo's. I will be looking to sell the S2K in the spring and hope to find an Evo VIII and if some luck on my side, I might be able to own a IX. I like the S2K, but they its too similar to my FC. High Revving, light weight, not enough luxary critters.

S2K is stock silverstone, just something to get good gas mileage and get around town....by get around I mean I've put 12k miles in 6 months.

My FC has been an on going project since I was 18(now 23). It made 284 rwhp on a hybrid/stock turbo and lightly ported motor. Now its sporting an aggressive ported Cosmo 13b with a 35R; made around 325 on 7lbs.

Thanks.

I use to think like you when I was 16. Boy was I naive. You can't get a car without a job, so get a job, save the pennies, buy the Evo when you have a better job. Trust me, throwing 70% of your paycheck at a car is a HORRIBLE idea.

Is the premature clutch wear mostly on the 8's or is it through out all the Evo generations?

for the IXs its supposed to last for 10-13k miles and 30-40 launches. Mine lasted till now (22k miles) and only because I fcked it up launching and now im slipping and gotta spend some Gs on the exedy twin.

So upon buying used Evo's make sure previous owner replaced the clutch with someting else than stock. Got Cha.

Not enough luxury critters? The Evo maybe the wrong car dude, they're differently not that luxurious. Other then that, they're awesome, and good luck to you.
