Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR

Hello Evo Owners!!!!! i am new to the forums and i would like to say hello and you guys have a well organized forum. I live in NYC and i would really like to get my hands on a (Excuse the caps just for emphasis) BONE STOCK Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR. Color dosent really matter but i want to know what steps should i take on pursuing this vehicle. Is it possible to still buy one new??? what should i check for to make sure it is stock and in fact a MR edition if used?? and i have heard that the wrong driver can make the evo seem as nimble as a prius so what is the proper driving technique since this will be my first turbo charged vehicle, AWD vehicle. I am now learning stick so this will also be my first stick and i am really trying to become better as each day pass in driving a stick ..thank you so much for the help. I would like to mod lightly and nothing to outrageous from stock i just want to hit at least 310hp with some basic mods just to compete with friends Subarwho Sti (thats wat i call it sorta **** him off lol) i hear exhaust and reflash should do it any thoughts on that thanks alot . safe driving

MR's only came in 6 speed in the US. That's the easiest way to know it's a MR. If you're buying a used one, make sure there's no boost leaks, should hit 1.3 - 1.4 bar on WOT (wide open throttle) stock. The rest is really good judgement. I'd suggest going to a Mitsu dealership to give it a once over or even a good local tuner.

Good luck with the purchase.

Brookdale Luther Mitsubishi in Brooklyn Park, MN has a brand new silver IX MR SE sitting on their lot. 1.3-1.4 bar is a boost pressure reading on the boost gauge that comes with the MR's. 1 bar = about 14 psi.

check autotrader.com. I heard there's a dealership in CA (yes, I know...far away) with a few MR's/SE's.

for the mr se version... the only difference is rim color, different front lip, and red stitch on the recaros versus the regular mr...

you are correct, an exhaust and a tune will get you a bit more than 310 whp, but you'll need a boost controller as well. you could check the warrtalon buschur package or make your own.

MR is a vehicle trim, SE is a option package. Apples and oranges.
