It does have more torque but for the price you can make the evo faster with less money.

And the stock handling is better on the EVO but if its a daily driver thats not really going to matter.

Better question for you is what do you plan on doing with this car?

As someone also in the market for both, I'll tell you why I'm going to get an EVO and not the STI (I get this question alot from friends).

1. It's not goin to be my daily driver so the stiffer suspension was a plus for me. The STI is much smooth but at a cost of handleing. I'm sure there are lots of people on the forum who daily drive there Evo's and I'm not saying you can't, I just prefer my Acura or BMW to get back and forth to work, and will save the EVO to go bombing up the canyon.

2. I4 motor is much easier to work on the flat 4. I plan on upgrading many parts and do all my own work (plus I've owned and rebuilt a Mitsu motor before so i'm familiar with it)

3. I plan on tracking it some so the understeer on the sti was an issue for me (there is a top gear episode where they compare the 2 cars, I'm sure if you search youtube you can find it).

4. I like the way both look but here in Utah I see less Evo's and more Sti's and I like to be atleast slighty different than everyone else.

Just my 2 cents. You just need to decide what YOU want to get out of the car and what it's purpose is going ot be in your life, then go drive them both and decide which one fits. I really like both cars but for me the choice is the EVO.

The original owner of that STi probably traded it in on an IX.

The Evo over the STI anyday because the Evo has the perfect driving dynamics (while the STI understeers), the Evo has a much more tunable engine, and the Evo's steering is wired to your brain (the STI has very good sports car steering, but nothing close to the Evos). Simply put these little things make the Evo a much better driver's car, but the STI does have the Evo beat in daily driving with more low down torque.

If you check out the magazine reviews between the two, I believe the Evo almost always overwhelming wins because of its driving experience, but you should really drive both to find out and confirm all the talk about each car.

Also SEARCH, this debate has been beaten to death.

Both of these comments are very true.

But you really do have to drive both to decide, you may hate one or the other who knows!
