Getting a tune this week
Getting a tune this week
Well, I figured I better get a tune finally. Right now I have a 2005 Evo VIII with a TBE with a Helix HFC and a cone air filter. I am heading to Turbotrix for a tune, MBC, and fuel pump. I am hoping to break 300 on the numbers.
They do recommend a Test Pipe but I get concerned with NJ. My HFC did throw a CEL so I went with a spark plug fouler. That fixed it.
I also did order the Kartboy short shifter and bushings from a member on here which I plan to do on Saturday. the cams sound so enticing but I can't afford another $700 right now otherwise I would.
So, you guys think I will break 300 hp?

Good luck with turbotrix...
Obviously no research was done on this tuner. I can count more people that had bad luck with them than I can good luck.
May I ask why you're not using a local tuner like iveytune?
Also, the fuel pump swap is easy to do. Takes 20 mins tops to swap out. Research the how-to links it will save you money.

I read some pretty positive results with Turbotrix as well.

WEll can you tell me what you have against TT. and the dealership will warranty as long as you aren't putting certain things on it...IE BOV, meth, etc...
Here is a thread on tuners and who people used and their experiences. Scroll through this thread and read about the people that used Trix.

I have nothing against Turbo Trix as i have no experience with them being 1000 miles away. However, I look out for my Evo brethren when it comes to getting the best for your money. Why spend more money doing things twice?
I'll find more threads if you want me to but I'm not going further than this without you wanting it as I don't feel like getting an infraction on my own...

Mitsubishi will tell you up front that they will cover it, and as soon as its done, they will tell you they have to ask a service rep, and they are the ones who will deny your work. Then they will flag your car so you have no warranty! They told me a Boost Controller, and Cone Filter voided my warranty! Its bull ****, but its how they are!

Case #1
As WickedE is saying, if you are going to mod your car, you have 3 choices! 1- if you want your warranty, wait till your warranty is up. 2- Mod your car and just plan on voiding your warranty and get used to it (which is what most of us have ended up doing). 3- Keep all of your stock stuff, and you have to go back to stock before EVERY time that you go to the dealership. Its all dumb, but its how they are. And another thing, when you fry your clutch if you race at all, ANY AFTERMARKET CLUTCH VOIDS YOUR ENTIRE DRIVETRAIN WARRANTY!
I don't know about 300awhp, but good luck. As for the warranty mine has been voided since day 3, 2 days for shipping. I have been told that I could do this or that then when it came time for warranty work I was denied because of my mods. They are really strict when it comes to doing anything to these cars. I have heard that if you use anything other than Mobil 1 oil they will void your warranty. I don't know how true that is and how they would even know but I wouldn't be surprised. And by the way when it comes time for a clutch ^ they are right anything other than the stock P.O.S will void your warranty. Good luck with the car and the tune you will notice a vast difference over stock.

well i see the OP is in NJ, as am i......i'm not sure what dealer he is going to but i've already been in for warranty work(headers cracked) and it was resolved with no issue...car had cone intake, act clutch that was all done after i bought the car from this dealer...i spoke with the service manager(before he passed unfortunately) and inquired about the voided warranties, and basically as long as the part installed isn't the cause of the failure you should be ok.
