Evo X MPG
Who cares about MPG with a turbo car? Or even a V8 powered car? I don't care
about mpg.... I really don't, currently own: 2 MKIV Supras, 3 Eclipse GS-Ts, Evo and a Sequoia.
It's the Insurance that I'm worrying about !!!!

I get 120-130 miles to the tank with my Evo IX. And Im proud of it, I gotta make sure that if theres 100 idiots with Evos saving gas, that I cancel out any good theyre doing if ya catch my drift
The only thing I'm worried about is this:
6 years ago gas averaged 1.35/gal for regular.
Today gas averages 3.25/gal for regular, and we have not hit our summer spike yet. This should put it around 3.65.
The trending has been steady for about 20 years, and I don't expect it to dip... if it keeps steady, it'll be $9.90/gal in another 6 years (for regular, and this is best case IF increasing demand from emerging markets like China and India don't impact supply constraints). I plan on having my car for at least 6 years, and I'm not jazzed about a $150 fill up while I still DD it =/
I hear the argument that the US has untapped reserves in the gulf to last 30 years... but her is a news flash: the American oil company's won't artificially keep prices low for US citizens. They'll sell every drop to China for $1000/barrel if they can, and if we wont pay that much too, we simply dont get it. Thats how a free market economy works, folks. And if we started going after that oil today, it'll be a good 5-6 years before its tapped.
What I'd be interested in seeing is a e85 or even a fancy flexfuel conversion on the 4b11 powerplant
AMS did it last year with on a IX and put down 380tq on the stock turbo boosting 28psi just by retuning for the new fuel.

Gas prices in the US have been significantly low for decades. If you took gas prices in the early 70s and accounted for inflation we are still paying less today. It was inevitable that the extremely low gas prices we were paying here were gonna come back up. But we are still paying significantly less then foreign countries. And if enviromental freaks would quit their wining and let us drill in Alaska it would help out with gas prices.
Anyway LOLz to the $9.90 per gallon.
Oh, and new EPA raiting systems is closer to actual performance but also is roughly 2mpg less then the old system. 16-22 is 18-24 is same as evo has always been.
And lastly I have cruised an entire tank at 77mph and averaged 22mpg. So the 25-26mpg??? Oh, and don't go by the little "instantaneous" mpg display, its way off.

You're worried about MPG? Why buy the Evo X?
If you are thinking MPG or drag racing or where to stuff the baby when you buy the X, you are sadly misguided. This car is for "giving it the onion" when you want and damn the mileage. It's for cornering like nothing you've ever seen and looking good doing it. It's a grown-up version of previous Evos and should be treated as such. Enjoy the feel and enjoy the unbelievable dexterity. You own a car that is the best bang for the buck performance machine on the market. It has class that no other Evo has had before. If that isn't what you want, there are a lot of used Evo IXs on the market right now. If you can afford the Evo X, you can afford the gas. I couldn't care less what my mileage is...
It really cracks me up all the people on here who say they dont care about mpg. So you like just throwing your money away? I dont care if Im throwing away a dollar, I would rather have the dollar in my pocket then someone elses. Maybe its just me, but I can think of tons of better ways to spend my money then on over priced gas. Yea I love cars, and love the evo, but I just cant throw my money down the tubes like that. Ohh and E85 is a joke......I dont get it...it costs more, and gets worse mpg...but its better for the enviroment......
Just ease up on the gas and avoid being a lead foot, BUT that's pretty hard to do when your driving an EVO, which is meant to be driven hard. Well, most of the time... LOL!
It's just a matter of discipline for me.
I just go fast on the on-ramps, but drive the EVO like I just bought it when I drive on the freeway and city...
