Question Getting the twist of things but I wonder

Ok im getting so much knowledge on Evo's and there history good stuff but what im curious about is....well the new Evo X has the great "AYC" but the Evo 8 and 9 already had in in japan and it goes further then that....so can a "AYC system" be put in a an USDM Evo 8 or 9? would this be stupid? because from what the "AYC" does in the Evo X is make the Evo close to never understeer....and if possible would it cost a lot? and be a lot of work?

Oh on the side note how much does Importing an Evo cost? (from those who have done this)

Thanks a lot guys....getting my way there lol

You're off to a good start asking two of the most absurd questions about Evos that don't exist in the US.

I have yet to hear of anyone adding AYC to a USDM Evo. Not worth the money or effort.

And importing an Evo would be more than you can afford pal, very expensive.

To most of our knowledge, nobody has done it. There is no need for rude remarks. If your up to the task go for it, you would find plenty of support from these forums, however your likely to encounter the occasional know-it-all to impede your choices. I would love to see this done, to be honest, yes it probably would be very expensive, but ultimately it could be done. Hope to see you do this in the future.

Importing an evo, well thats expensive too.

Well "CRX2EVO" your the first rude person i met on this forum but hey i cant say anything thats how your are....as for "Jameson_IXMR" you seem really cool and your advice makes sense but are we taking about a $10K dollar job?...i mean the only advantage to this is that undsteer would be almost gone....

oh and not to start a fight online but could a 800hp evo vs a 800hp gtr....who would win? me and my friend are gonna race on forza 2 lol...and we know its only a video game but i think it would be a good race in real life...straight drag

for a bunch of racing videos i've seen it always looks intersting the battle between the Supra and Evo.....In most videos the Supra has about 50-150hp more and then Evo is short on Hp...now the race goes on from a dig or a roll and the supra wins a little (meaning 2-3 cars) but when the race is an evenly matched horsepower the supra gets blown away.....its seems as if the Evo block and drivetrain is better (never meantioned stronger)....kinda like a smaller Skyline....now dont get me wrong a supra is way more turbo friendly and makes amazing Hp but a dead even race on Hp levels the supra stands no chance.....sorry guys for getting off the topic a little bit...lol...its just i see a lot of arugments of it and it seems to me like the evo can over throw the supra....just a thought

I can add to this, I sell Porsche parts at a dealer and I get questions like yours but for adding Porsche stability management for example. Sort of the same thing, different name. It takes looking up all the items on the parts fiche which are AYC option specific if it's even shown on their US parts computer, but since it's not on our US cars it probably won't be listed. "If" they show a rest of world parts program they will have to look it up there and see if they can order the needed parts. CPU's, wiring harnesses which might be part of the entire main wire harness, maybe different wheel speed/abs sensors, could be a whole lot of parts. You and your mitsu parts person will have to get to spend time on this one to find out just the price and availability portion of the answer. I'm sure the techs would have a tough time answering this question also and would probably tell you not to do it. I'd like to know how this goes for you though although I'm sticking with my 9 the way it is.

I couldnt estimate the cost, I am sure it would be over 7k at least, not including the time your going to spend finding the exact differences and parts needed.

Its good to know that people out there are intersted in the idea its just that....see im trying to see which Evo i would want and both have good things going for each other and bad....and im not comparing them like "oh the interior sucks blah blah" (no offense) its just that i want something that performs really good....but to those who own the Evo IX hows the suspension and if you switched to the Evo X any major difference as in performence wise...this question would actually be more helpful....thanks

Buy any model of Evo, do mods to get it to drive how you want, nuff said. The car is and will hopefully always be so easy to modify that you can, with very very little cost, get an Evo to do basically whatever you want. Stock for stock, yeah, the AYC is awesome and reduces understeer incredibly, but, of the 3 years I owned mine, it understeered for 1, the other 2 I had a decent suspension set-up. In short, it would be cool to add the AYC, but also incredibly pointless for how much it would cost.
