Instead of gutting your cat, just get an ebay one. You'll be glad you did when emissions time comes around.

lose weight if you are overweight
but I wouldn't remove spare tire and jack, the evo felt more balance with them in there when taking corner hard.

YES! A lot of Evo drivers overlook this. Not saying it's necessary, but I'd bet that the majority of them probably have a body fat percentage over 10%. Start jogging.

Sometimes I think I'd be perfect for a bike: 5'9", 130 lbs.

Remove your back seats, I have seen some people carpet it with a tiny layer of foam under. Remove your trunck liner and junk. Remove your Door panels, remove center console, Remove glovebox.

Mabye fill all of this extra space with helium balloons?

$150 + $85 + $75 = Get the car first.... hp to dollar is cheaper with the evo compared to any other car.

What people own before the own the evo doesnt determine the skill level of their driving.

Search the how to forums for quick easy DIY mods. Other than that, just go out to the car, stare at it for awhile you'll start to see what is needed or not.......

I.e. The hole throught the head light to add more cooler air..........

Forget mbc's; they are affected by outside temperatures and won't help with boost taper. Just remove the restrictor pill from the stock soleniod and get your ecu flashed for $75. A test pipe for $69 would give you good gains as well.

Or use a proper CAT that is high flow... or just stick with the stock exhuast and run an open downpipe at the track...

Weight and driver are the two cheapest (to a point) performance getters

It was a white sentra http://crazyjim.ramelot.com/14seconds.htm
Off topic but proof weight reduction really works

Many tuners don't use MBC now, they modify the boost control harness and run everything off of the existing ECU. I am pretty sure that Works, Buschur and others have kits for this. Define cheap and define what you want. I wanted to have stealth and well engineered parts. I have the Works: TBE, dropin, throttle body, and P2 flash with boost control harness. Best money I have spent, improvements from idle to redline.
