EVO OWNERS, please read.
thirty-five K and i dont regret it one bit, i guess there is just something about pulling up to big bad V-8's that have 3 times the displacement, and just leaving them at the stop light stumped wondering why a four door car just spanked him
Be prepared to also fill up with 93 octane change oil 3000-5000 miles..brakes rotors, diff oil, transmission oil the list goes on...
You will be able to afford it for a year like most people..then sell it.

I bought my SSL in feb of 05 and havent looked back. I cant think of a better way to spend my money. Every time someone asks me this question I take them for a ride and they soon understand.
If you can barely afford to buy it, then you may not be able to afford to maintain it. Tires add up
I love mine, and I can honestly say it is BY FAR the most reliable car I have ever owned. It is my first Japanese car though. I just put in gas and get it serviced regularly. If you mod, then reliability will go down.
The only regret I can think of, is that now my DD puts me to sleep
However, I have driven quite a few V8, RWD cars and they do have their advantages too. Drifting is fun, and a big V8 is more fun stoplight to stoplight then my stock Evo, partially just because I am still a little afraid of breaking the clutch. When I had my big block musclecar, I didn't even use the clutch except starting out from a stop. So it depends what you want out of your car.
If you buy used (so basically anything but the X) then make sure you look it over really good, cause many "stock" Evos are just modded ones with the mods pulled off

The EVO is a terrific all-round car. Fast, quick, handles well, carry 4 people comfortably, big trunk space - not many cars have all of these in excess and that's stock.
Augment the fast, the quick, and the handling and you are in super car territory without losing any of the practicality. NO other car can do this as well as the EVO. Period.
Personally, I think the '03 EVO VIII offers the very best value for yoour money. There was one on here a few days ago that was bought for $12,000 and another for $15,000.
I bought my VIII a year and a half ago for $21,500; it was 4 years old and had 28K miles. Shop till you drop; you can find good deals.
