Hey guys. there isnt a 2008+ GENERAL forum, so i posted it here.

I am ready to be buying a new car in the next 6 months. I have the 04 ralliart which is off the road and being built. I'm currently driving a 2001 VW Jetta 1.8t fully loaded. but i want something with a warrenty. bottom line, mitsu has the best. So I'm buying a brand new lancer ONLY for the reason that it was a 10 year 100,000 mile warrenty.

this alone has me sold. But my question to all of you guys with the new generation lancer. ANY REGRETS?

I'm going to the 2010 Lancer ES model, (or the DE, rather go with the cheaper DE) dont really care about any packages, the ONLY thing i want is that fast key thing. is it worth it? does the fast key come in the DE?

and like i said, any regrets? any of you guys with that year/model lancer wish you bought something else? or do you recommend me buying a different car/model?

dont need an evo. if i want speed i have my ralliart. this is the dialy driver with a 10 year warrenty. You guys think i'm making the right move? any input would be great thanks...


also... how much did you guys pay for your 2010 ES with the fast key entry?

I see a bunch of DE's for sale online for 14,100 dollars. but my dealership has them for 15000, which makes me think my dealership is over priced. i'm guessing the ES with the fast key entry is around 18,000 or so. am i right?

does the DE base model come with fast key? thats the ONLY thing i'll want. i'll buy the DE if it comes with that?

i mean basically, i want to know if like say... You guys JUST got your brand new lancer DE or ES... is there anything with the car that a week or month or year later, you said "Man i wish i had this..."

no ralliart/turbo or evo comments lol... just basic stuff. upgrades, or different model... OR ANYTHING YOU DISLIKE about it?

it will help me with my decision.... thanks guys

 

I dont know about the 2010 models but I know the 2008 DE doesn't come with the fast key system I think only the GTS comes with Fast Key but dont quote me on that. As far as any regrets I have none. Some people bought the car thinking that it was gonna be some high performance machine or something and from the factory it isnt. I think the car has some real potential but any car has real potential if you look at it, it just takes the time and MONEY.

I bought the car because I loved the way it looked and didnt really care if it did 0-60 in _seconds. It does what it was made to do get you from point a to point b safely. I do have plans for the car in the future but like I said thats the future.

 

I have an 08 GTS i got it in the summer of 07, same reasons really, needed a new car with warenty to get me to work and back basicaly. I drive alot for work and have to have a car.

Have Had no problems with it at all I take it in for its oil changes and other then that nothing else has had to be done to it. Its been a solid car for a DD. I've even drivin from Toronto to Dallas like 3-4 times in it and its been great. No regrets at all getting it.

Just hit 60k KM (37-38k Miles)

 

awesome, so you guys all like the car so far.

i know i'm not buying the car for speed, like i said. its my daily driver that i can keep for 10 worry-free years. I have a car i can get 3grand for, 500 dollar return customer rebate, and i can cheap them down 500 hundred i bet. than in 6 months save up 7,000 dollars. I might only have a 3,000 dollar loan for the car, and pay it off real quick. I'm liking this more and more i think about it lol.

so anybody else? anybody else get there DE or ES and say "man i wish it had this" I'm looking for maybe upgrades or something for the model i want, but at the same keep the cost down down down. like i said, ALL i want is the fast key entry (badass) and of course, air conditioning... dont care about ANYTHING else.

 

fast key makes life heaven and hell. when it works, its amazing..

when it doesn't it can be dangerous.. i was at a stop sign once and my car just turned off... then i had a message saying "key missing".. even though it was right where the sensor was and the batteries were new...

this just happened again 2 days ago. but at least the car didn't die (car was off but i couldn't turn it on)

this incident happened 3 times now since i bought the car . went to dealership many times and they said everything is normal..... buy a honda... something that works

 

hmmm... thats good to know... how long did you have the car? and it happened 3 times? if it happened 3 times in 3 months thats bad. but if it happened 3 times in 2 years i can live with that..

i think its worth it. i hate reaching in my pockets to get my keys out. pain in the *****.

 

i have an 09 gts n i have no regrets buying it. the fast keyless entry is awesome and i havent had a problem with it yet and i bought the car almost a year ago

 

i bought the car in jan 2008 so 3 times in almost 2 years... yeah not bad... its very very convenient..

the range sucks though if you forget where you parked and you're using the panic button. but you are getting a 2010 so i think most of the bugs are fixed by now... if they even fix bugs lol

 

I think they fixed that turning off bug smoke... with mine I can jump in start it... jump back out and go for a jog around the block with my keys and it wont turn off. the range on the key isn't bad but not fantastic.

 

here's one regret...dont buy the automatic, the CVT sucks. get stick

and dont go for the DE, get the ES, DE doesnt come with steering wheel controls (volume, channels etc) or not even cruise control.

 

i have a regret of buying my car... i bought it in july of 07... got the base gts for 19k... i sort of wished i got a subaru... but oh well..

my car rattles like a baby's toy, pulls left, had to replace my tires at 21k miles, horrible customer service... need i say more?

 

pretty much hit it on the head..i woulda got a stick..and i wish it would have been an 09..

and i really dislike the DEs to me theyre just to get you from point a to point B i usually see 50+ year olds..if you plan to do anything to the car...or juts want it to look good go beyond the DE..because id rather get a loaded fit or corolla instead of a DE..you just wont be happy with your purchase knowing what you cuold have got

about the DE coming with out the streering wheel controls, or cruise control, thats fine. I NEVER used my cruise control unless i'm drinking and driving and a cop is behind me. and none of my car had streering wheel controls, so its no big deal. I'll save 2500 dollars not having them options. no big deal


the ONLY think i want is air conditioning, a cd player, and the fast key. IF the DE comes with fast key in 2010 its sold. i can always throw rims on a DE, and if i want to look nice driving the car, i'll drive my 04 ralliart. the DE is so i can have a cheap cheap car, with a 10 year warrenty so i can buy a house soon.

and as for the tranny. manual VS. CVT. i never drove a cvt. and to be honest, since this is a daily driver, i would like to have an auto matic. so i think i'm gonna say screw it, get the cvt. the car will NEVER be redlined. I will baby it, so i dont need to worry about performance....

what is the main problem with the CVT????
