Ticket for smog check

Ok, I have a ticket required me to do a smog check on my car. It doesn't have a phone # for appointment of the smog check. Do I really have to go through the smog check by them or I can go some where else to do the smog check? The mods I have on my car are ARC intake, Tomei manifold, o2, dp, test pipe and trust Ti-R. Is there anyone know I can pass the smog if I swap back my stock cat and exhaust on my car? Or I have to bring everything back to stock in order to pass the smog? One more question is if I am not gonna do the smog, how much would the fine be? Thanks.

If you got a REF Ticket then you can only go to a Ref (Yes, Stock) or pay the fines in court (which i dont think is an option anymore)....i believe the fines are over $600 according to a buddy of mine that had the same troubles....

That sucks man. I just put on the mods not long ago (2 weeks). I don't want to go through the process of removing everything and putting everything back. And I know it requires certain amount of time to remove everything and don't know how much do I have to pay for the labor again. $600 is way too much. But thanks for the reply though.

You're in SD, THE illegal racing capital of the WORLD. If you ask around, you should be able to find an, ahem, cooperative smog check place.

If it's the Ref, you have to make sure all your parts are Carb Legal. Good luck.

How do u know is it a REF or not? It says on the citation that call whatever 1800 #s for appointment, which means that's a REF?

One more question though, are they suppose to mail me a letter or sth stating there is a bail or any other actions that I can do?

Because it states the 800 number for an appointment, you are more than likely going to need to see the Ref.

However, drive down to your local smog check place and ask if they have a different opinion...

The reason I asked if there is any letter coming in about the bail is I know some people just pay the fine and ignore the smog check. And I just got a quote on putting everything back to stock is $350 and if I want to do it another way around is another $350. That means total of $700 and cost me at least 2 whole days to do it. That's y I just want to pay the bail and get away from it.

I'm fairly certain you can pay instead of getting the test done. If you get another ticket however the bail increases.

I checked the DMV web site and looked for the vehicle code 27156(b) on the ticket, I found the bail amounts are either $100 or $250. If this is true, I will definitely paid the bail and get away from it.

This may be a stupid question but, do the cops just pull you over because the car looks modded and tell you to get the emissions checked? Are they profiling tunner cars out there?

yes sir

They will stop you for modified exhaust, make you pop the hood and if they notice anything they can write this "Modified emissions equipment" ticket that comes with a hefty fine.

I got a ticket last week for the same thing. I was told to just put my stock exhaust back on, see the ref, and pay the $38 dollars to see the re then be done with it.
