^Of course your driving around on a closed course I imagine. Anyway, dont get the gears, save the money if your just going to drive it on the street. Just get the GSC and call it a day, you can pass smog with that and a little tuning for it.

I can't find the article, but there was a review on the main page of this website that compared the S1s against other cams. Search for that, it may help you.

I have the S1s and the idle is a little different, but not real loopy like if you moved up to 272s or 280s. A good tuner can pretty much get it to idle like stock.

HKS 272, or BC 272 are not lopey at all, only if your tuner can tune it right. 272 are very common now on DD evo.

don't get cam gears, they don't give much hp for the money, most shop don't recommend them anyway.

you want to pass smog in CA w/ cams? well in CA the smog is more strict than any other state, so it's hard to say.

look into BC cams, they are the right price for the cams

agreed, and bc 272s plus tune on my car added up to 60awhp gain, my car is far from dyno queen but it'll get all up in that a$$ on the street.

From what I've heard is that you'll pass smog as long as you keep your cams under 272. I heard that Work's 269 will pass smog and HKS 264. So I think you'll be safe as long as you keep it under 272.

By the way, does anyone know the duration and lift of the stock Evo cams?

I thought most states don't check for smog with a sniffer anymore but just check for codes? No codes = good to go

Remember that in Cali they don't put any load on your vehicle, the AWD makes it difficult , and just put the sniffer up to the exhaust. I've heard of other cars passing with 272's. Also in Cali the car has to pass a visual inspection and has to pass the OBDII test, hooking up a scanner and looking for codes.

I'm running HKS 272's and I love them. They idle great and the aggressive sounding lope doesn't bother me at all.

Good luck with your decision.
