Just an update... I called like the main mitsu people and this lady called the mitsu dealer I was having issues with. And I went from a customer to a VIP. Well, not THAT drastic but way better. Anyways, an engine light went back on, Overboost. I talked to the main mechanic, who by the way is probably the most knowledgeable guy I have ever met about Evo's and Cars in general. He actually listened to what was wrong and test drove it with me and said he needs to make some calls and he'll take care of it. So, he told me to come back on Monday and well see what happens. Hopefully, it all works out but yea for anyone who cares, I'll update how it all goes.

Im a honda tech , but for all its worth, its in the ecu. The high rpm-jerking is a common symptom of a problematic ecu..... Atleast in honda's, that is! Hope this somewhat helps out Keep us posted

MITSUBISHI SUCKS!!!! The dealer basically told me they are not going to work on anything until i change the clutch. I explained to them why the clutch wouldn't matter but they said to bad. I talked to the one mechanic who agreed with me and when I asked to talk to HIM the service manager told me he would not allow it even if i showed up. "If you come back to us, I will ask you one question. Are you here to change the clutch?. If not then I will tell you to leave" - Service manager. The corporate office goes by what the dealer says over me. So I am just screwed. Its overboost then fuel cut. They said they don't know where to start to fix it. So the clutch is not "100%" so they have to fix that before they ever TRY to fix the other problem. O and its out of MY pocket. They quoted me $1700. I was like and if it doesn't fix the problem do I still have to pay? Yes. I am soo angry. Sigh, bout to just sell it or part it out or something and buy a Sti. Just kidding. Before I get flamed for 3 pages. I love my Evo more then anything.

If I were you I would take it to another dealer and see what they say and if they say it is the clutch tell them to put it in and if it dosn't fix the problem then they eat the cost of the clutch and if it fixes it pay the bill.

They told me I pay for the clutch no matter what. Thats the problem. If they said if it is not the problem they would pay for it I would do it, because it isn't the problem. He said, well you need a new clutch anyway, you have to pay for it.

I understand the problem, tell them that if they are so sure that is the problem then put your money where your mouth is and install the clutch if that dosnt fix the problem they have to eat the cost.
I would look up the lemon law in your state and see what your rights are. alot of the time if you mention that to the dealer they will do what ever it takes to fix the problem and stop fighting with you. This is done by them, because if you turn the car in using the lemon law they have to replace the car with a car of like standards that has the same milage and everything yours has. And if that can not be found they must give you the full price you paid for the car.

I am taking my car to another mitsu dealer, just to see what they say. But they probably have it in the system to not touch it unless i change the clutch. If that happens, I am going to call my lawyer. So, I will post again after I take it to dealer #2. WISH ME LUCK!!!!

Good Luck! Man that sucks. Sometimes I hate Mitsubishi because of crap like that. Do they teach these guys to be like that or what? A friend of mine was a dealer and he went to work for some toyota place up in Ventura CA, and they were trying to tell him to lie to customers, to basically do and/or say anything to get a sale. He quit and reported them to the BBB.

If i dont completely mash the petal down on my car, the turbo will spool up more than half way and then chug like a *****, i think its because the techs know how to drive a turbocharged car and maybe you don't. I can get any stock turbo charged car to chug and jolt if i do it right.

You MUST be a douchebag. Engine light saying Overboost. Yea, thats caused by MY driving. And to be as big a loser as you are to just post this useless information is pathetic. Just add something productive or STFU! They must have guys like you working at mistu no wonder their stocks are dropping...

Yea update, not really much to say. I brought it to dealer #2, they SEEM cool, but so did the first dealer. The mechanic drove with me, and guess what , it did NOT happen. But, as I left, it happened again, engine light on, just no good. I went back and he was to busy to try again. So, tomorrow I'm going and I think I can make it happen for sure, with a little luck and timing I should be making progress. I need to see what they say, the mechanic told me if it was happening and he felt it, he would fix it. But, so did the other mechanic. I don't trust anyone anymore, so I'm not counting my chickens before they hatch. While we drove it the first time the mechanic "did not say" *hint hint* to put a boost controller on it and fix it myself, and then take it off and bring it back if I needed to. But, thats my final resort if mitsu screws me yet again. We'll, see. I will definitely update tomorrow after I bring it back. Thanks for the interest *tear* I feel the fellow Evo owner love.

I dont feel like read all this. do you have a boost controller is the car at the stock boost level.

the reason I ask I had a very similar problem after I installed my evc very recently.

I added a fuel pump an no more problem.

good luck

do you have anyone locally who can ecuflash your car? they dont need to touch anything. just raise the overboost so it doesnt cut out and you'll be fine.

The point is I know how I can fix it. But, I want Mitsubishi to fix it all instead. You should read and you would have seen that. I want to keep my "warranty" just in case more problems arise.
