How much HP?

Anyone have an estimate on how much hp these mods will add to a so far stock lancer?

AEM CAI
RRM header
Greddy full exhuast
ECU
From what i can see those are pretty good upgrades, i was thinking about getting all that stuff and was wondering what you guys think i could get out of it. Even a rough estimate =) thanks.

it would probably be around 160 at the crank but then you have to figure in drivetrain loss and it would be around 135-140whp...
It's not alot of horsepower gain for the money but its freeing up the car and it should run close to a low 16 or high 15 second quarter or better.

We'll do everything on the high side.

Estimates give the
ECU 16 hp
CAI 10 hp
header 15 hp
exhaust 10 hp
---- 151 hp

modest estimates.
ECU 10 hp
CAI 5 hp
header 10 hp
Exhaust 10 hp
---- 135 hp

You will notice a big difference with those mods but I think they are more starting points since they allow the car to breath more and make the next set of mods easier.

ouch. I was hoping for a higher number =o hehe. There any other "cheap" mods out there that would give an ok ammount of hp? I want my car to be pretty quick... i know its not gonna be FAST, just want it to have a fair ammount more pickup then it has. Also my friend with a complete stock 02 es lancer did 15.9 in the 1/4 Is that not normal? thanks

that time sounds about right, there are some threads in here somewhere about posted times. Though the numbers don't sound high with the car being as light as it is and as much low end torque as she has even 40hp will get you off the line a whole lot faster.

I know a lot of us go for suspension mods first and the hp stuff later =) Myself I'm gonna hold off on the header and I don't have a huge interest in the ECU atm. too much buck for the bang so to say and a different ECU if you go turbo.. but with the above mods going turbo adds 80 more hp to the mix and puts you over the 200 mark which ain't half bad =)

but even with just my cai and exhaust I noticed an increase in hp.

I ran my car at the track and I was running 17 flat in the quarter with very high humidity and a 15 mph headwind. I have a Buschur exhaust and an AEM CAI and I should be running in the 16's somewhere. With those mods your car is gonna be pretty quick so dont think that the low horsepower number affects how fast it really is...

The only suspension mod i plan on atm is the Eibach pro kit springs, and eventualy 17" wheels. If you think ecu is to much buck for the bang, what else would you chose? Just trying to get some ideas here... thanks

well those mods, if you dont go cheap on them, will run you around 1200-1500 Id assume... Id save up another 1500 and get a turbo... you'll probably enjoy that a ton more than little bolt ons!

Hey static, don't beleive the hype. With an ECU, header, exhuast, and intake you'll get 20-25 HP max. If you want to spend your money wisely get a turbo.

no, just totaly stock. Its in arizona, low humidity and it wasnt to hot at the time. Ive seen a few others post they did the same. its an 02 es lancer, only thing he has done is spark plugs and syntetic oil, and i dont think either of those would add power, heh.

never believe dyno sheets unless its backed by people you trust...

half the time you look a dyno sheet and the hp increase is just because of an rpm increase or somethin like that.'
just a bit of advice.

I'm in Arizona and some friends told me a stock OZ at the track was running 19's. Poor driving skills probably played a part, but thats a huge difference. Unless your friend has a slip to prove it, he's pullin your leg.

this is my timeslip from the other day at the track with a headwind and very high humidity... I shoould be in the 16's and I have AEM CAI and Buschur Exhaust so I hardly believe a 15.9 is possible with a stock lancer...

Keep in mind that horsepower is never a straight equation. It's all about how well mods work together. One thing I'm very curious in doing is seeing how well a reflashed Lancer will work with a camshaft (which is also my own upgrade plan). I figure with a cam and the timing advance from the reflash, some pretty damn respectable numbers may very well be possible.
