not to be a dick, but wrong place. Post in the Newbie forum above this one. And please god tell me you are not getting an evo when you first get your license.

Hi, I'm 18, I got my license at 16, I had a 1996 Honda Civic, i put $7k into it to make it go faster than it should, and due to a lack of experience, too much power, and the High School Male's Ego, I got my license revoked for speeding.

Lesson being..when you're young, you should be driving a Chevy Cobalt, Cavalier, Nissan Maxima, Altima, Honda Civic, Accord, Toyota Camry, Corolla. Something small, economical, and safe.

(not so sure on the Chevy's for safe..but meh)

However..if you want to learn about the Evo..you've come to the right site to do it, I've been on EvoM for about 3 days and I've learned a whole lot more than i thought I already knew about the Evo.

However..he's the Evo Crash Course.

The Evo 8 & 9 uses the time tested motor from the Eagle Talon's and other such DSMs. the 4G63. This alpha-numeric sequence tells you, that it is a 4-cylinder gasoline engine, the 6 tells you it is in the Sirius series, and the 3 tells you it is the 3rd motor in that series.

This is a 2.0 Lite Inline-4 Powerplant that comes in an N/A and turbocharged version, the 4G63 and the 4G63T where the T clearly stands for Turbo.

The Evo 8 is an All-Wheel-Drive vehicle meaning it delivers power to all 4 of its wheels. Some of the Evo's have Active Yaw Control, this basically stops the vehicle from under or over steering. Also, All Evo's come with Brembo brakes to improve stopping power, they also can come with Bilstien shocks to improve handling however delivering a fairly bumpy ride.

Basically..it's a Rally/Sports car from Mitsubishi with a factory rated 286hp on the Evo 9, and 271hp on the Evo 8. It comes in several trim models, all of which being a 5MT or the MR which is a 6MT.

For more information....READ AROUND!!

Thank you, have a nice Day.

True, however I was talkin about the base model with the 2.2L Ecotec. it's like 150 hp, 160 ft/lbs, or somethin like that..never was a Chevy guy.

However, as people have said..theres a lot of good information on here. just read through it and if ya have any questions, well post'em up. If I've learned anything about the EvoM forums, its that theres some really nice people here

Well welcome. The Evo 8 is a very fun car. It accelerates like crazy and handles great. It puts a grin on my face every time I drive it. That's the good part of the car.

The bad part is -- it's also very expensive to maintain and operate. All in all - it can easily cost over $900 a month to own the car with car payment, insurance, 4 tanks of gasoline, and tires (amortized over 12 months).

I can also say, from experience, that owning a first car is a learning experience that can have messy results and should be done in a car that you don't mind messing up. Messing up an Evo would not only make you feel really bad, it's also (you guessed it) not cheap to fix.

Even top jet fighter pilots learn to fly in a Cessna first. Know what I mean?
