MAF adapter + open cone filter = low boost?
This is an otherwise bone stock 06 EVO IX RS....
I found a MAF adapter with a K&N cone filter and decided to try it out. I disconnected the negative battery terminal and installed it. This was right before I put the car in storage for winter. Four months later and I get the car out of hibernation. I start driving it and look over at the factory boost gauge. The highest boost I've noticed is 1.2 bar = 17.405X psi. Hmm...that doesn't seem right.
So I purchased a K&N drop in panel filter and I'll be swapping everything out for the stock airbox with the new K&N.
Thoughts?

I removed everything today and put the stock airbox back on. I dropped in the new K&N panel filter I bought months ago. I disconnected the negative battery terminal before changing things out. I went for a quick drive. I let the car reach normal operating temp and ran it through some gears. The highest I peaked was 1.1 bar.
It would then taper down to 1 bar. Sometimes it would only peak at 1 bar. WTF

I drove it awhile today and I would spike to 1.1 bar in 1st - 3rd then taper quickly to 1 bar. In 4th I spiked to 1.2 then tapered down to 1 to 1.1 bar. Then finally in 5th I spiked to 1.3 bar and tapered down to 1.1 bar.
FYI... 1 bar = 14.504 PSI, 1.1 = 15.954, 1.2 = 17.405, 1.3 = 18.855
Is this normal or is something wrong? My EVO was in storage for a little over 4 months so I really don't remember what stock levels should be. How long does it take for the ECU to learn when you've changed something?

I took the undertray off the EVO tonight (plastic screws FTL). I inspected all the hoses and clamps and they all feel snug. I'm really not sure what's going on with my car. I guess I'm going to have to take it to the dealer.
Sorry to go off subject, but I've been dying to know what the Cobb SF Intake sounds like. I'm looking into getting one, can you give me your take on it? Is it a worth while mod? How does it sound?
