update...

when the evo was on the flat bed noticed that move oil was leaking from the above the oil filter, but couldnt see any piping or a whole/crack from our view point. where is the oil feed line for the turbo? its a little reassuring knowing that the oil isnt leaking from the bottom of the pan. hopfully i didnt shoot a rod.

The oil feed line for the turbo is near the valve cover on the right side. You'll see a Banjo Bolt there, then the metal line goes down to your turbo.

the filter was on good. is where the leak coming from in the right spot for the turbo feeds?

i just read the timing belt change interval is 60k.... if not done would that cause catastrophic engine failure?

If the belt failed, yes it would cause a catastrophic engine failure. How many miles on the car?

71k. is there a way to tell if its that stock belt? dealer said if the failure wasnt due to driver error (id bet my life its not) then they well cover total cost and get me in a loaner for down time.

removed the cover. on the cam gears there on single white dots on the gears. are these supposted to line up? the belt is horrible loose. i can put my finger between the gears and the belt. the belts is ripped in places but intact. the teeth on the belts are almost non existant.

That sounds like belt failure. The belt should not have any rips and the teeth should be well defined. This does not tell you why the belt failed. It may have failed on its own, but it would also fail if the oil pump seized or stopped due to some internal mechanical failure.
