Should I get a X???
I personally would not get the Evo X, but then again it's just my opinion. I've been around my Evo IX MR for a while and I absolutely love everything about it. It's a hardcore driver's car. If I were you, I would take your time and research a variety of cars that suit your interest. Even check out cars that compete with the Evo X. My first car out of high school was a blue RX8. The only thing I regretted about it was that I got an automatic transmission. I have learned from my mistakes and I now have my second car which is the Evo. I have no regrets because I compared and researched for about a whole entire year. You may not wait that long, but I truly suggest you keep researching and test-driving a variety of cars, even if you don't think you may get the car you test drive. Choose the car that makes you smile every time you hear the name, every time you look at it, every time you sit in the driver's seat, and everytime you start the engine. You just gotta love cars...

I love my evo its the best car i ever owned. Took me 5 cars to find the right one. The only hard thing is juggling school, car payments, insurance, gas, girlfriend. im not saying i regret that i got the evo but an evo is a big expense plus the MOD bug will bite you lol.
Well just somethings to think about good luck
^lolz, nothing wrong w/ being a bit spoiled, as long as the person is not spoiled rotten... but like others have said look around. Maybe go to race school before you get (if you get) a X.
I say go for it. I just turned 18 and im about to get my third job so I can hopefully save up enough to get my Evo X around December. I'm currently paying off my GTS, but I'm too tempted to mod it and I know that modding my GTS would be a waste.
I would consider something a bit lower. If you are a first time driver, it may be too much. (don't mean it as an insult) I remember when I had my first couple of cars (16-18) i drove like **it! And having as much power as the evo provides, I could have ended up in a lot of trouble. Second, the expense is high. Insurance for an 18 year old on a 35+k car with turbo will be freaking horrible. I remember my insurance on a 2001 Eclipse spider GS was over 250/month when I was 20. That was with 4 years of experience on a car with no turbo. Not to even get into the whole gas thing. I would call around and get all the info you can regarding how much it will cost you all together. After all that, it is a badass car. I'm looking forward to getting one soon. But then again, I'm 27 already.
Anyway, that's just my $.02 But good luck in your decision.

first off ur parents must be pretty nice/cool if they will buy u a 35k car.. i would say dont get the evoX.. insurance wouldnt be that bad if u got on ur parents insurance... but i really dont think ur parents would like u getting an evoX.. aslo are u going to have to pay for anything??
i really would consider getting a new civic/wrx/cobalt SS.. something thats cheap but yet would be fun for you.. i mean u going to be starting college.. u shouldn't worry about ur car..
a good college education is worth ALOT more than a car...

If I was you I would wait for the Ralliart Lancer. Which is a turbo lancer. I believe thats still coming out. Even the GTS model is nice...
I don't know how much insurance is out there, butt here in jersey its really high.
For an 18 year old you will pay almost 4 grand a year. The EVO is one of the highest insured cars on the market today.
Then you have to factor in the gas which is like 5 grand a year. Then your car note...maintenance and all that other stuff.

^ Lol, the new STI is more expensive than the evo and it doesn't handle as well. Get an evo if you're getting an STI. Like someone said earliier, wait for the Ralliart, it's turbocharged AWD, or get a WRX. But don't get an STI (unless you like it more then the evo).
if i were you i would get a cheap car with a warranty to get you around while in college. once you graduate than buy something fun to reward yourself for all the hard work you've done. well thats what i did anyways.
best of luck.
best of luck.
An IX would be a good choice!
EDIT: How are you paying for a $35k car by yourself as an 18 year-old?! Then once you get into insurance and gas you are going to be in trouble. I'm guessing you have a pretty good job and work a ton of hours, but this is kind of a huge investment to be making especially with the whole college thing right around the corner. But if you can afford it cheers to you! Its an amazing car and I hope to purchase one myself some day!

If I would have owned an evo at the age of 18, I would almost definately not be here today. I don't want to insult any younger owners because I'm sure there are exceptions. But, I know that most 18 year old's are too immature to handle a 300 hp vehicle. When you're 18 you're invincible. Things are a little different now going on 26. Don't take my word for it though, go by just about every insurance company on the market. 25 is the age when risk begins to sharply decline.
