If you blow your motor, it costs ALOT more to rebuild than to build your good motor.

At the end, you save more.

When I installed an AMS turbo kit, I also had them build the internals. At the time I had just enough cash to cover it, and I figured better safe than sorry, even though the initial setup only made about 370whp. Having a 9100 RPM fuel cut helps for road racing, too, though.
WHat did u have them do...all the internals or what??

Being properly prepared for more power is the wisest financial decision one can make in preparing their vehicle for high HP goals. Upgrading is expensive enough, but if you have to fix things you've broken while upgrading, that becomes WAY more expensive.

While I don't particularly agree with drop in pistons, they are much better with aftermarket rods than running a stock rod / piston combo. Just make sure that whoever is installing drop in pistons knows what they are doing. If you don't make sure the clearances are right, even that combo can fail pretty quickly. The best bet is to always get a pre assembled short block that was precisely machined for the the components that are in it.

Going fast and being reliable is NEVER cheap. Pick two of those three terms at any time.

To support the higher redline, I had them install crower rods, ross pistons (stock bore, 8.8:1 CR), supertech valvetrain, remove balanceshafts (AMS balance shaft kit), ARP bolt stuff (I forget exaclty which ARP parts...).

BUYER BEWARE: IF you decide to upgrade your internals and remove the balance shafts, then you may run into problems with the stock ECU picking up phantom knock, which will have a noticeably negative impact on performance. If you add to that solid motor mounts and a chattery clutch, it will probably worsen this problem. I fought phantom knock on my car for 1.5 years until I finally decided to switch to an AEM...
