Planning on Turbo...

hey guys... im new to this forum, name is yacek (yasick), i live in brook park, ohio...a small suburb 10 mins away from cleveland. i bought a 2004 Lancer Ralliart. i love it and all, but i need more power and speed. im saving up money and looking to either turbo my 4G69 engine or just doing an Evo swap and upgrading turbo's...im doing research on it, im just looking for advice which would be better, and better money wise. any help would be greatly appriciated. i have a shop about 5 mins from here, so i can have them swap the engine, or my brother and i can do it. we put a VR4 enigine into his 3000gt. it took some time but we figured it out and did it ourselves with no knowledge about it before hand. and please dont tell me to just sell my car and buy an evo...i can't find any close enough to my house. im only 18 and i just got a job so i don't have the money to buy an evo. i have to work with what i got. any advice on what kind of turbo's or what engine to put in? thanks guys! im glad to be a part of this forum

A 4G63 swap would be a waste of your time and money. The 4G69 is capable of putting out all the power the FWD Ralliart can handle on low boost. As for which turbo, a 16g is just right, and you'll make quite a bit of power on just ~8-10 psi. If you want more than that, it'd be wise to upgrade to forged pistons and ARP main/head studs. Controlling fuel is tricky on our car, due to a PITA MAF, so it's generally recommended to go with a premade turbo kit.

Read and search through the section that streetvision linked to, as well as the rest of the Ralliart area. There's a wealth of information in there that will answer all your questions.
