Even with a modded, Si you will fall in love with the Evo. That car handles like no other. They look good and they are actually very reliable unless you mod wrong. You will likely not regret your purchase.

Launching on a stock clutch is ill-advised unless you know what you are doing. If you have an upgraded clutch, which most older Evos do then you have some more lee-way. Just remember that you are launching an AWD car and if you get one take your time to learn the characteristics of the Evo. I have owned two Evos and an STI and never broke my diffs, TC, axels etc from launching it. My 03 Evo (bought March 2003), I burned the clutch our after 17k miles because I didn't know much about launching AWD cars. I have the stock clutch on my Evo IX and don't burn up the clutch cause I know how to drive the car.

what does a tsx make stock? 180 to the wheels. 300 seems pretty good to me on a damn tsx motor. btw you should not have a problem reeling him in even if he can drive.

Sad isn't it? And that's about the peak I can do with my car while still keeping it daily driven. That's why I'm looking into joining the dark side and picking up an evo!

But yeah, I expect to walk him on a roll. Just curious how I would do with a race from a dig. Anyway I'm not really looking forward to beating him or him beating me. Just seeing how my ride will compare against my future ride

I'd look for the Evo to win over your Si. It's possible to lose, but the person with the Evo should when if he's a tough driver. When my Evo was stock, I've beaten a stock 05'-06' CTS-V. I've also beaten 2 highly modded SRT4's, both at the same time (stock Evo). I've beaten stock 350z's at that time also. I'm all for the Evo in beating your Si......Sorry for have such strong feelings for the Evo. Oh yeah, I'm replacing my clutch right now since it's gone at the 17,000 mile mark.

How well does the civic put the power down? If you got wimpy tires and an open diff I'd say the Evo has you from the dig...

Traction DOES suck.. I'm running on Azenis RT615s. 6-speed, quaife LSD. Don't want to go slicks cause then I'LL have to worry about breaking my stock axles haha.

Haha it's no problem. Some people just push their car harder than others.

All this debate on who'd win, even between fellow evo owners are giving me hype about running him now. Maybe I should get this on video!

I still got a EK civic hatchback with swap as my DD/beater... I have lots of friend who are hardcore honda tuners.
With a K24 supercharge and 306hp -VS- a stock Evo IX is a driver's game from dig but on a race from a roll you will pull on him on the high-end.

But with TBE, reflashed and boost control he'll smoke you. I know because I race friends with same K swap, k-pro and boltons....and yes supercharged.

Like many have mention ALL stock Evo have a weak clucth.. Mitsu do that to protect the drivetrain. But a good driver can launch it with a step launch technique without damaging anything..well almost... might want to get a better clutch soon but other than that it's fine.

Your car should win. If it doesn't, then that only reflects on you.

You got him. Out of curiousity, why did you dump so much money into the most unpopular honda body, like, ever? I mean, yours looks really good after all the mods...but why not start with a more capable (not to mention less lunchboxy looking) chassis?

It doesn't sound like the Evo driver knows anything about how to really drive...I think the Civic should rape the Evo (the civic even has fairly sticky tires and a quaife for christ's sake).
