Looking for a downpipe... what's good?

As it says... I'm in the market for a downpipe. I'm fairly new to turbo charged parts so not sure what to look for. From what I've seen... most brands seem to have similar number of bends and diameters so what I'm worried about is mostly fitment and quality which I can't tell from pictures.

1. What's the best downpipe for the money?

2. Are there any issues that I need to worry about running of the factory ecu such as CELs...etc?

3. Any downpipes that you heard of that has had problems which I should steer away from?

Any additional tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. It'd be nice if you could name what's out there so I can get familiar with what's out there.. some reputable and expensive ones I already know

Thanks for your time,
Calvin

hey man
CELs would not be worried about untill you get a testpipe and the Cel im running is perrin with is discontinued...im sure there are more out there

Downpipes

Agency Power Racing Downpipe 275

Invidia Downpipe 300

Perrin Downpipe 272.59

TurboXS downpipe 270
(Works with the factory catalytic converter or with a TurboXS EVO Race-Pipe and RFL-Ti Cat-back exhaust system)

Prices are from Gsc Motorsports in Charleston, SC or Stikilller.com

i had the perrin downpipe for 3yrs before i changed to the ets 4'' turboback exhaust and i had no problems with it at all

Honestly, a downpipe is just a piece of steel tubing. The 3 big factors are fitment, stainless steel, 3 inches. I went with Megan from Zeus. He's a vendor on this board. Great customer service and much cheaper than other companies. My Megan fits like a glove. Stainless steel, 3 inches, and the price can't be beat.

I've had an Impreza WRX so I'm quite familiar with Perrin... great company but the WRX actually ran 3 different cats (up-pipe, and 2 on downpipes) which is why I was curious... from what I've read a tune beats Cobb's accessport which is good for subys but why not the Evo.. because its relatively new?

Thanks for advice

Works 70mm jet coated! No fitment issues and works well! It fit well w/ the stock cat and a MilSpec HFC!

Megan has always been fair and overall a good company for the money.. does this downpipe replace the cat as well or its a short.. are there any that replace the cat and connects directly to the exhaust side?

As far as I know, all companies that make downpipes for the evo end at the cat. People either keep the stock cat, use a test pipe like me (Megan has an awesome resonated test pipe), or use a HFC. I'm telling you man, for the money Megan TBE can't be beat. It's a full 3 inch back, full stainless steel, fitment is great, and I can't justify spending $1000 from other companies for a bunch of piping and a muffler. I paid like $650 for my TBE shipped.

2 3/4" just under 3", but from what I have read, if your not heavily modded, the 70mm is fine!
and yes it was expensive for my taste anyways. I think I payed like 5 bills +

thats a good site.. just checked it out... are their reflashes good?

BTW is it even worth it to upgrade the O2 housing? who makes them since I can't seem to find them sold with the turbo back systems

Keep in mind that I live in North Carolina and we have state inspections.. the cat I can swap in and out quickly but I don't see anything else being a problem...

sorry so many questions come up after everything I look into...

I like the Tomei Expreme setup. You get both the turbo outlet and downpipe for about $600 or less.

You just can't complain about the built quality of Tomei.

Is the O2 housing referred to as the turbo outlet? What exactly do you change when you replace the "o2 housings"..?
