Advice on intake

I order the HKS Racing Suction kit but it has been 5 weeks and I don't want to wait anymore. I am trying to decide between the Buschur intake, Apexi Power intake, or the Perrin intake.

My Apexi is awesome. Looks great, sounds great, easy install, great filtration, zero maintenance, what's not to like.

Hey man, is that the Apexi Power Intake? Do you need a tune to run it? When you installed it did you get any driveability issues?

i run the apexi power intake on my 05 and had no problems before i got a tune. I read a thread on here somewhere where they compared and tested a few of the more popular intakes and the apexi was a better all around filter to go with. (best filtration, best power gains) i believe the hks was one of the worst actually.

deffinetly have to agree with hikaru on his post

If it were me, I'd only buy the part from an Evo-specific vendor who's tested it on hundreds and hundreds of cars just like ours. Given your choices, Buschur's intake is the only option.

iunno about the 8s, but im still waiting on tuners to tune the X. Some brands use the stock MAF and others done. Some tuners can work with only the stock MAF. So do some research and good luck finding a good intake!

quick question;not ment to thread jack

but.i read that when you put a open air filter on,it will cause your car to run rich.Well,a buddy of mine told me it would run lean

my theory:
more air suction means more gas, meaning richer

his theory:
more air equals less gas to compensate, meaning leaner

which is correct?

Depends on the intake really.

The HKS suction for example doesn't really have a linear flow line. I'll hazard a guess that it vortexes around in the pipe. Anyways the HKS makes the MAF think its getting alot more air than its really getting at higher RPM's which is pretty difficult to tune since it tends to max out the MAF sensor even at pretty reasonable boost.

Once you max out the sensor you are more or less just guessing what the car is really getting for air.
