pep boys and jiffy lube were just examples. but yea maintenience is going to be more expensive that any other car at this price point for sure.

not sure where youve read about reliabilty issues. but i think the vast majority of owners will say their cars have been rock solid, save for a few flukes.

how much does the evo 9 mr cost? I think you should maybe look into a evo x, i have a evo x mr, it's my dd, and i love every minute of it. The car itself is expensive, but overall I think it's worth it.

I wanted a black or gun metal grey mr, but I ended up finding a sweet deal on a red ix mr and I love it! Since then I've fallen in love with my red mr, but honestly I would have loved this car even if it were primered or painted pink! I did budget wisely, but even if i had to live out of my car to keep it I would! Just get it and you can easily sell it if you change your mind.

If I can remember it correctly, you mention that you don't do drag race or into tuning scene, I am sure that if you drive normally, the car should have no problem. You wouldn't have to spend much on tires because they should last you awhile. I do some drag once in a while and currently doing a lot of WOT due to street tuning. Anyways, if you feel that it's the right car for you, go for it. Save the regret for later. I have an 05 Evo GSR and it's great. I just miss my Lexus because it's super quiet Good luck on your decision

i've got 106k miles on my '04 and the only issue i've had was an improper clutch install but mechanically, it's been reliable. i bought it new with 4 miles on it and have not had any issues. it's my dd and i do open it up every so often and it's moderately modded and i have had no issues with it. as far as oil changes, if you change it yourself, go to advance auto parts when mobil one is on sale and you can get 5 quarts of mobil 1 and a mobil 1 filter for $26. i put 50k on my stock clutch and it was fine, but i went ahead and upgraded to a exedy stage 3 but i had plenty of life left on the stock clutch. if you're good to the car, it'll be good to you. if you rag on it, you'll wear your tires out. if you want to keep it stock as a dd though and you're good to it and you just take care of the maintenance, it'll last you a long time.

Red was 2nd to last on my list (last was yellow). Now that I have red I love it. It feels more like an evo being red. Just seems like that is what it should be.

With that being said, the Evo red paint oxidizes quickly. I invested in some Mcguires diamond cut 2.0 compound it took it right off. So you gotta keep up on the paint.

What is too high of a mileage when buying a used evo? I am going to do some basic mods but I figures around 40/k and over is too high.

It all depends on what ya want man and what you're looking to spend. Try to find the lowest mileage you can.

No its not worth it. Nothing but problems i dont care how much you take care of a car. Ive have mine for 4 years next month will be 5 years and ive driven my evo problem free for a total of 1 year and 8months car would run fine for a week or a month then something else would go. I havent driven it in 2 plus years and now over this weekend my car was under water after it rained all weekend in chicago.

Its not worth it.
