Mitsu added 5hp, yet 400 lb of weight - gee i wonder how it affects every day street driving and usability?
and EVEN assuming that all performance stayed the same (which it didnt), the MSRP rose like crazy! so whats the point now ?? why own a $40,000 mitsubishi ??

AND what do you mean no one else offers AWD and turbo????? what about Audi A4??? what about 335i ?? even saab Turbo X is a decent car now.

the bottom line is if you can pay $40k + for an Evo X MR, then you might as well pay $40k + for a 335i
Drag racing a car meant for the turns is lame, but a lot of americans prefer their evo for that type of bore.

The base 335Xi cost WAY more than a EVO MR at MSRP with the Same options dummy. Also, who ever pays MSRP for anything evo or mitsu at that is retarded. Southcoast has awesome prices.

u r a retard for not being able to participate in an educated dialogue, where u have to use your brain, rather than just type away like a monkey. the reason i said MSRP, is because the only way to compare prices fairly is to compare MSRP. its like a standardized test in college (if u ever went to one). since everyone will pay a different purchase price, its impossible to compare prices based on that.

but obviously most people would not pay msrp for anything

agreed, X is a track car, not a drag racer. but for many owners, the Evo is also a DD, so its the average daily driving that matters perhaps even more than that one time per month they actually make it to the track. and in daily driving, the X became a regular mainstream sedan, like a souped up civic or corolla, comfortable, laid-back, easy to drive, soft and quiet

335Xi MSRP (and yes i will continue quoting MSRP cause thats the right thing to do!!) is $40,000.
Evo X MR msrp is ~$42,000 (with sports and appearance items, but without navigation).

- if u add navigation to both cars, both prices go up ~ $2500
- also, when u compare a bmw to a mitsubishi, keep in mind, how many things are standard on the bmw.... so please never ever ever try to compare options.

it doesnt take much to believe me, rather than regurgetate 'made-up' information and numbers that people post on this forum, just go to www.mitsubishicars.com, and build it on your own

I priced both cars as I was interested in a 335i coupe. BMW wanted 50K+ for something I built online for 49K. Building a GSR + SSS + NAV online is more than the 33K at the dealer. I would never buy a X MR.

yes if u click every option box, your bmw will be over $50... heck, almost 60k. thats German for u... every little last detail is optional. BUT if u stay away from all that, a 335i sedan starts at $40,000, and already has most of the functions u will ever need.
besides, even assuming for a moment, that an X (GSR or MR, whichever) is less expensive than a 335i by a few grand... a few grand ?? there should be a much bigger difference. after-all, not only is it a "bmw name that u pay extra for", and not only does the 335i now give same if not better performance, its just so much more of a car

Not nearly every option. Just Sports and Nav.

Get the EVO X and sell the IX to your friend! I have had both and don't get me wrong the IX is a great car, but I think the X is better!

well, i am 19 as well making about the same as you. the ix is a way better call in my opinion. i bought an viii, raced a x, and put 3 car lengths on it by 80 mph (we were both stock at the time). so if performance is your overall goal stick with the ix.

None of those are words I would use to describe my X.

IX = more sportlike, rough ride
X = more seden luxury feel, smooth ride

To me X is more like soccer dad's car.
i would never let my children in my IX(loud and rough drive)

I'd keep the IX. Like many said it looks better and the engine is proven itself over the years. Stock for stock they are pretty even. The IX already responds really well to mods so you've got something worth keeping.

[QUOTE=Mr. Furley;6230833]Drag racing a car meant for the turns is lame, but a lot of americans prefer their evo for that type of bore.

Drag racing is just a type of race and a way to benchmark horsepower and power to weight ratio. Maybe us drag racers don't have Laguna Seca or Infineon next door to us. Tuning at the drag strip is also much safer (not getting a ticket safer) then tuning on the road and, is cheaper then tuning on the dyno. It gets boring when you run 11.8 five times in a row and is just as boring as running a 3:53.06 at Sebring 5 times in a row. The drag strip is good practice for shifting fast and launching hard. There is no reason to downplay any EVO on the dragstrip when drag racing should be the prerequisite to any form of racing.
