Question how much slower is an X then a IX

would it be worth it to trade in my IX for a new X. payments are a problem. i have 23,xxx on mine, is that alot. if someone was to try and buy it. would that be alot of milage or what?lol. so is the X worth the money. or if someone didnt have an evo. what would be better a ix with 23k miles for like 28k base price. or just get an X brand new. a friend of mine(one of the (2) friendsive mention'd on here) he would like to buy an evo and im trying to find out what would be smartter for a 19 year old making 15 to 17 bucks an hour. with only a cell bill and gas. hes not one of the brightest bulbs in the box so im trying to help.

P.S. i put my millage on here and that i might get an X. if i was to sell my car to him or trade it in. so i want to no if 23 is alot for a used evo

Thanks in advance for all the positve info

u asked alot of questions and i got confused however i will try n help...

I would keep the 9. x's havn't grown on me yet and since many people like the style of the 8's and 9's they will begin to hold their value since they don't make them any more. If you have money to spend on an X i would spend it on the 9 instead. With only about 2k of mods and a nice tune in a evo 9 it becomes much more exciting and fast.

I don't know anythign about the x so one of those guys will have to chime in. I suggest you also make a list style of questions in ur next post instead of one long paragraph.

I believe the IX and the X have different character traits. I would go drive a X and find out if I like the IX more or the X more. Now you have to remember, a stock car is a stock car, it will feel slow.

There are...
many threads about this kind of thing.

But, stock for stock I think they are more or less equal
Mod wise, who knows

Also honestly, what's the rush? Why not wait for a XI or whatever

This might help answer your question:

Both are capable cars so it's doesn't matter which on you really pick. They both have the potential to go really fast.

yeah, cause it will prolly be stock for a while. maybe a catback and a stereo with some gauges but thats about it. but stcock vs stock. what car would be better. or with just a catback, and a drop in. with a factory flash..

haha meanie.

23k miles isnt alot. you could sell it for a decent price. and personally I like the IX over the X. keep it.

first of all, would you please consider using commas and/or periods?!?

second, do not ever compare the IX, and the X. thats like comparing an M3, to a 318i stationwagon with a hitch and trailer.... stick with the IX, and it will actually go up in value one day (maybe )

The Vivid Racing is going to present their Evo X show car in SEMA, which is 650 hp /w all stock internals. That is far more superior than the IX (although I own a IX). It's impressive, and time will tell you if the X really got potential. So far, many autocrossers have used their X to break many lap records. (Go to Motor Race section, look at blackTrack's post).

btw, another point we all keep forgetting is that when u compare power and 1/4mile times, u have to take into consideration the X's added blubber.

so perhaps a 400awhp IX, will be equal to a 450awhp X (which means more mods are needed for the X to keep up, which means even more reliability uncertainties)....

How is 650 hp in a stock internal X far superior to a stock 4G63?? I can't imagine what they had to do to that block to hold it together with those kinds of numbers. I know for a fact that people have BEEN making 600whp in their EVO's on stock motors for a while bud. So to say its superior to a IX or VIII in that area is ludicrous.
