Question form a newbie

I am fairly new, okay completely new to modding cars. Can anyone recommend any good resources to use to research car mods. I would like to start modifying my OZ but would like to know what the hell I am and should be doing to get better performance out of the vehicle. Obviously the resources do not have to be specific to the Lancer, but something that will help to increase my overall knowledge of what mods to make, how they increase performance and what precautions to take. Thanx for the help.

More Air to the Engine = more power (better airflow will help)

Look up specific Lancer parts, read about them. Look up technical info on the car, read about it. 75% of what I know about cars (which isn't all that much) I learned through reading. The other 25% is trial and error. You'll also learn that the majority of people won't let you put a POS part on your car.
Hope this helps.

Email me if you have any specific questions.

well if ur up for reading and learning about engine works and technical stuff like that i'll recomend howstuffworks.com coz then you wont need to reply on graphs to tell you the differences between exhaust systems and such but you could compare them with ur knowledge of what each individual part means, such as the diffence between a 60 and a 80 pipe and what they do interms of backpressure, distinct advantages throughout the range and all... i'm all for that coz if you got that knowledge you dun have to rely on what other people said, what shops tell you, or as much trial & error.. i mean, i've seen power graphs for the Apexi Hayabusa exshaust, which has (if my mem. serves me rite) a 90 pipe, which means that low range HP and torque is somewhat sacrificed, but you cant see it in the graph because Apexi smartly choose a format and scale that makes the power gain at the high range VERY apparent and appealing but the low range is very vague and unclear.... get what i'm sayin? sorry bout babblin but i'm just tryin to help a fellow beginner out...

This is a pretty good website for researching some general theories about your car.

Basically like the first guy said, when your talking about HP, is the more air that is pushed in and then out of your engine, the more HP. For example intake's help the breathing in, aftermarket headers are less restrictive than the stock one's, then through the cat and out the back of the exhaust. By modifying these parts to be less restrictive, you can create more power. Next step would be to go turbo or supercharger.
