how to break-in an EVO

I am getting my EVO in the morning, finally!! I've looked all around the internet and read tons of different ways to break in a car. What is the best way to break an EVO in and what is the recommended oil change intervals?

drive like a granny for about 600-1000 miles(correct me) but mix it up between city and highway driving. I change my oil every 3000 you can do 2500 though

never go pass 3K rpm before 1500 miles and then change your oil after.

So 3k rpm and lower is considered granny mode? Never go above that for the first 1000 miles? How fast is 3k rpm in 5th gear?

well once you get the momentum going...

boost kicks at 3 - 3.5k.

1000 miles isn't alot when you think about it. The more u drive, the faster it'll get there.

I broke in the clutch for 500. No highway. All local with cooldowns. Didn't want it to glaze. Mitsu dealer told me the motor was ready to rip to 7K from the factory, it was broken in as a part of testing. Well, I didn't rip it to redline for the fist 500, but I let it hit 4.5-5K. This was with my Evo IX, and 80mph in 5th is more like 3600, it is in boost a bit.

Drive your evo like you stole it, the harder the breakin the stronger it's going to run.The breakin play's a big factor on the way the ring's and pistons seep properaly but the first 200 miles take easy so the brake's and clucth break's in, after that rip the sheet out of it.David buschur had a write up on this question and this is what he said similar thing's wish i could find the thread but i think it was on his forms, goodluck with the new evo you choose and great car, the new evo x is starting to grow on me.

just dont go past 5k rpms or 50% throttle till 300 miles. then dont beat on it too much til about 750 miles. you will be fine. this is how i did my last evo and it ran and pulled like a CHAMP until 47,000 miles when i sold it.

p.s i know people that beat there cars out the box and they drive fine.
