I bought my IX 2.5 yrs ago from South Coast. I lived in New York at the time. They used Dependable Auto Shippers to ship the car

Car came with a dented hood and scratches over the car. I had full insurance thru State Farm but declined Dependable shipper's 3rd party insurance. DAS could care less about the damage and State Farm wanted to fill in the dents

Worst new car buying experience EVER ! South Coast could care less after making the sale on the car. Wouldn't do it again.

I am also thinking about south coast too, I went to the mitsi dealership near me and they couldn't beat south coast's price. SO I also would need my EVO X shipped.

Just use a different shipper and get their insurance and you should be ok. I've heard my fair share of horror stories about DAS. Search around the boards and I'm sure you'll find some of the problems others have had with them.

Isn't the lower price offered by Socal negated by the large California sales tax on the vehicle? I was told that if driven back from Cali, you would have to pay Cali sales tax which is MUCH higher than my state.

I bought and shipped to Ohio. I avoided DAS due to the terrible stories I read online, and went with Intercity lines. You can read my story with pictures on the second page of this thread, if you're interested:

I bought at SC and DAS had my car 10 days and kept backing up the delivery date. Expected me to wait another 14 days and I had another shipper pick it up the day I called and delivered from Cali to Ohio in 5 days.
