cerfer- I will probrably put it up for 10k and try to get 8 out of it. I had a non turbo 91 stealth before with a damaged title and sold it for 6k three days after I put it up for sale, there are quite a few interested buyers out here.

I would, but it is hard to save money when you don't have a job and are going to school full time

actually, that is the right one, I believe, I was told that the belts need to be on the drivers side, and the intake manifold is supposed to open towards the passenger side, this is what I was told anyways. As far as putting the money into my car, I am at the point where it is do or die, I can't do anything else without having to do big modifications, and the 3S platform is platform is not very tunable yet, making it very expensive, too expensive for me since I am goign to school. Basically, I will have about 10k to spend after I sell my car, which is not enough for an Evo, but I believe it is enough for the swap. I was going to try to throw the DSM motor in, but it will only work with the 4g mirage, and I don't like the bodystyle.
The EVO I-III engine shares the same orientation as the DSM's 4G63, so it won't work on 5G Mirage, which is more suitable to receive the EVO IV-VIII engines.

At least I know someone read it, that's ok with me...as long as someone benefits from it. Cheers

oh, see, I have been getting most of my info from the mirage forums, I am sure you guys know better then them, so what engine am I looking for then? evo 4-8? Do you know if the Evo tranny is the only AWD tranny that will mount up with your motors? Will the GSX tranny work (probrably not, but it was worth asking)

I was hanging around Mirageforum as well and I don’t want anyone to get the impression that “I know more than anyone else”. I am still learning everyday.

That aside, if you read my little write-up (see link in my signature), I suggest the EVO IV-VIII 4G63 would be an “easier” fit as compared to the EVO I-III/DSM 4G63 primarily because of the engine/tranny orientation. I don’t think you can use a GS-T tranny with the EVO IV+ 4G63 since they’re in opposite direction.

Regarding staying FWD using that engine, I mentioned something in the writeup and you might want to explore on that with some mechanics.

In regarding to converting a FWD Mirage into a AWD car, you would have to deal with cutting/welding the body panels at the rear of the passenger seats and front of the trunk to make way for the rear transfer case....

I had a Mirage and was thinking about this project for over 4 years. Then I realized I have some other priorities in life than this before I sold my MT Mirage.

Cheers.

well it does sound more difficult than it is worth, unless there is some easier swap. I guess I will either buy a 240 and do a SR20 swap, or just buy an AE86 just for fun while I save some money to do something else.

The two cars you mentioned will definitely be "easier" to mod and swap in other engines.

IF (a big if) you want to stay in the Mitsu family, you might want to explore the 4G Mirage (93-96) which should be able to receive the GS-T 4G63 and a handful of these converted cars are running around the country.

yeah, I am thinking about getting the AE86 just the have fun with, and I could afford the insurance if I decided to bring it to school, and wait from prices to come down on a 240sx or something, I just really like evolutions, but I don't think the price is goign to be affordable for me any time soon, atleast not for 4 years.
