well if you want things to be a bit easier on yourself...get an EVO 4-8 motor....atleast its orientated the same way as our motor...other wise if you use a USDM Eclipse 4g63t you'll be better off making the whole front end of your car into a tube chassis.

www.mirageforums.com

these guys have spent most of their time figuring out the in's and out's of the mitsu motors what can go where, frankenstein motors and what not...really good group of people...but i must warn you to be cautious of what you say...once they see a post that has "4g63t swap" in it they'll be ready to pop on you...please please please read up there is alot of material out there for mirage/lancer evo motor swaps on both this forum and mirage forums...you can ask the Mirage guys about FTO/MIVEC swaps as well we have 2 members in the US with MIVEC motors, another in another country with a FTO motor, 1 thats attempting a EVO conversion. Good Luck.

"Go for it man. I don't much about this, but people do this kind of thing all the time in the Hot Rod groups. That is why almost every Rod and Classic truck uses a mustang or corvette front end. Or uses a kit small block chevy in non GM cars and trucks. So you guys giving him a hardtime, just chill. I'd have to agree there is waaaayyy to much negativity coming from this site."

First, hotrod guys are totally different people. What are their demographics via age and income? They can dump money like crazy w/o blinking an eye comparing to an average lancer owners. Can an average lancer owner ever compete money power against supra or lower end porsche owners?

As for crate motors, they are cheap, and those people have been fabricating parts since the 60's. This isn't exactly like an average H&A swap.

It's like a 2g GSX owner who crankwalked his car buying an Evo 7 motor.

I had this same thought when I had the Eclipse and wanted it to be turbo.....I found it would be cheaper to just buy an Evo and make payments again.
