Big promblems I see as it relates to the 50 post requirement
While I appreciate the effort of the mods that goes into helping ensure that the marketplace is safe you can not and will not prevent all scams. At the end of the day it is the responsibility of the seller and buyer to ensre that they don't get screwed. Personal accountability goes along way here. I think the answer may be more of a buy and sell at your own risk approach than trying to get in the middle of it.
You must also weigh the fact that many newbs such as myself are here in search of cars for sale. By placing more restrictions you only make the legit guys jump through more unneeded hoops.

I agree with our Admins/Mods on this. I don't think they're trying to make it harder on you. You might be a good guy and what not but seriously...A LOT of newbs on the forums post randomly just to get post counts up and we also have people who gets to 50 and then post non-stop selling stuff without really understanding the FS/FT rules at all. I see newbs posting without pics or proper descriptions all the time and it bothers me! I seriously doubt people will buy products without proper ads and guess what? Most of the time the nice ads I see with accurate descriptions and good solid pictures and communication is from members with a lot more than 50 posts.
I vote to increase it to 100! I hate to see members get scammed and I really hate random nonsense listings. Everyone has to put in their time and build a reputation. If you are serious about learning about your car and be an asset to the community, 50 posts or even 150 isn't really that big of a deal. If you need to sell something that bad, go on ebay

Wade Jarvis,
Hi and welcome!
I do appreciate your comments and thank you for taking the time to write a clear opinion of our rules. Our rules concerning post count were born out of a desire to provide a speed bump for scammers and a deterrent for 'drive by' sellers. We consider access to the Market Place a privilege earned and fair trade for positive contributions to our community. We have to quantify meaningful participation somehow and value participation in our technical forums above all others. That is reason Lancer enthusiast from all over the world visit this site.
Isn't the core of your argument a request to reduce the effort it takes to participate in the community and become eligible to sell on this site? I feel you are offering solutions without a problem relative to our goals of providing a small measure of protection for our members. We have no plans to change the current requirements. Thanks.

I should not have even made that last post because I am getting off of the real issue which is NOT about the number of post. I know that is how you guys seem to be taking it but that is NOT what it is about.
It is about counting posts in the newbie section. Not counting them in a way encourages posts that belong in the newbie section being posted elsewhere. Then it snowballs from there because flaming and pointless SEARCH! post ensue. Then it becomes an issue for the mods dealing with those threrads and the people who posted in them. The regionals and Newbie sections are valuble assets to newbs. Simply put we need to encourage them to post in those sections. We already had one guy in this thread come in and say he has gone in the photos section and posted stuff like nice car to build post count. I know this is against the rules and so I will not be doing this myself. I also know you guys deal with posts like that. Posts that are only there to build post count.
My main purpose on here is research and finding the evo I am going to purchase. It is very tought to post and contribute much about a car don't even own let alone know much about.

This is not about me wanting to sell anything. I don't have anything to sell. This is not about post count! This is about encouraging people to post in the correct section. Not counting those posts does just the oppisite.
Oh, believe me we DO warn everybody that all transactions are at the members' own risk, and we encourage everybody to assess the risks involved before proceeding. Of course we cannot prevent all scams, but I feel it is our duty to put up as many roadblocks as possible while balancing the need for our members to conduct business. Most feel we are just about right; I think we can tighten it up some; and you obviously feel we should relax it a bit. You can and will find other sites that have more lax rules that may suit your requirements. Unfortunately (or fortunately) we have no plans to relax our requirements; we reserve the Marketplace section to our contributing members as something that is earned and not given.

Privilege and not a right. I think this is well put because it puts an amount of responsibility on the part of the new member to contribute before they can be deemed worthy of trading/selling to other membersOP: I know you want those other forums to count but realistically speaking, you can see that Off topic, Newbie forums, and/or the Regional forums can not be counted. Newbie place is really only a place to show off your new ride/introduce yourself. The regional forum is pretty much a chatting ground so that doesn't really help. I'm sure if you're looking to contribute, you can find plenty of good places to comment on in the suspension/engine or show and shine. Even if you post random "nice rides" at least it will make you look at a car and see what's been done on it to grasp some info from that car whether you wanted to or not.
EDIT: If you don't need or want anything how come you want the posts to count? Does it really matter then? If you just want a higher post count for no reason then that's not even a realistic argument.

The EvoM landscape is littered by n00bs who decide to spam the forums with posts in a very short time to get to 50. I take issue with those people and usually ban them for a given amount of time and then reset their post count to 0. The very fact that you refer to our rules as "pointless posts to build post count" in order to access the Marketplace speaks volumes. As I said, there are other forums to suit your needs; we're not about to adjust our rules to make access easier for you.

There is more to it than just the selling side. Remember sellers need buyers.
I can clearly understand the off topic thing.
There are many post that wind up where they have no bussiness by members looking to build post count so the easy solution to me seems to be to count newbie section posts so they don't waste everyones time by posting that crap where it does not belong.
Not sure why the OP haven't replied to this very curious question: If you don't need or want to sell anything how come you want the posts to count? Does it really matter then? s it because you want every single post to count towards the number below your avatar? If so, that is no reason to argue against EvoM's post count policy.
I'm not saying it's OK, I said EVEN IF (which means that even though we don't want to, some people still do it) and I further explained why even though people tried to go around to random places, they do learn something by seeing what each member do to their ride. It's not the best way of contribution, but it still benefit them to see how mods are done to each ride.
Can I get a facepalm in here? You just suggested it was OK to do something that is clearly stated in the rules is not OK.

Well, it's about building a reputation and establishing credibility. That is what contributing members do. Oh, and a little bit about building post counts:

Don't sit there and reduce me to the same as the people who do that. Take a look at my posts before you try and acuse me of that. I have not done that and I never will. I was saying that there are people who do that. Seing as how you spend time dealing with that you know it happens too.
I made an additional comment based upon the comments of other members.

I am not looking for a fight with the mods. I am hoping to help them in a way so they don't deal with the threads that are posted where they don't belong and the hassle of dealing with that crap.

this thread by the OP should not be included in the post count to >50. It should be at least 100 or more. If the OP really appreciates the evolutionm as a website where "evo" enthusiasts come together to discuss the mitsubishi evolution, its history, how it has become the legendary "supercar" from evo I-X, then I don't think the 50 post count matter at all. But if you are joining the evom to justify a means, of selling in the marketplace then you came for the wrong reason. fortunately, this rule has withstand the test of time since 2001 and increasing it to 100 would be a good idea.
If that is how it was meant then thats cool. I just don't want to be thrown in that group of people. I have respect for the rules and will try to abide by them regardless of if I agree or not. Thus why I am bringing my valid complaint up so it can be addressed as opposed to trying to circumvent the rules.
