Big promblems I see as it relates to the 50 post requirement

I understand the reason for the 50 post count and that is all well and dandy.

I noticed posts in any of the following sections do not count towards your post count.
Newbies
Regional
Off Topic

Here enlies the problem as I see it.

Newbies: I FIRMLY believe post in this forum should count. Here is why. The newbies forum is solely here so newbs can ask newb ?s without being an anoyance to others. If posts in this section are not counted it encourages newbs to post in other sections where the same exact ? has been asked 50 billion times before, thus flaming and posts such as SEARCH! ensue. This is an obvious waste of time for everyone involved. We want to welcome newbs to the site and show a positive image of the site. Typically the people that post in the newbie section are nebs themselves or the few on the site who have the patience to try and help newbs out. There are many obviuos reasons why newbs should post in the newb section until they have a good grasp how things work on this site. I think doing this would be beneficial to everyone involved.
I honestly can't think of a single reason why they should not be counted. Also most newbies come in and post "Hi my name is Joe Blow I used to drive a XYZ car and post on XYZ forum alot. I live in blankville but I work at ABC car parts in blank city. My other intrest are sports and I play on ABC basketball team" Granted that was a very stupid example but that information could go a long way in resolving a for sale conflict if it arisses in the future.

Regional: I FIRMLY believe post in this section should count as well. It would be a good idea to encourage newbs to get to know those in thier area. Having friends with similar intrest near you who can take you "under wing" so to speak can be priceless. This is a great way to bring new members up to speed on thier new evo so when they post on here it is an informed question or reply. Those near you are often in a much better position to help you than somone on the internet who does not know you or your car. Also going back to the reason this 50 posts thing even exists is to prevent scammers. It is alot harder and alot less likely for someone to start scamming when they are known personally by those who live near them. Also a newbs first buying or selling experiences are likely to take place with those who are local.

Off topic: I can understand if these posts are not counted but please here me out on my resoning for why they should be. Alot of people like myself joined this site to research these cars or because they are looking to buy one. So in turn we may not have much to contribut to the car specific sections we really don't know jack about them. So many newbs feel more comfortable posting in certain off topic discussions where they actually know something about the topic being discussed.

Also I don't know if this is possible but is there any way instead of just counting post searches can be counted? We can all agree it is better for a newb to search than post, especially if it is not in the newb section where they are going to be told SEARCH! LOL Can you see the revolving door there? The current system is I feel is backwards and encourages posting instead of searhing. FYI the vast majority of my time has been spent searching and not posting. Even though I have been on here daily and for hours at a time I only have a handfull of posts that count. That seems messed up to me, almost as if I have been penalized for searching instead of posting in places I have no business posting in.

BTW Nowhere does it state in the "Can't post in the for sale" sticky that post in the newbie forum are not counted. I know this left alot o newbs such as myself scratching thier head wondering why thier post count had not gone up despite posting and having waited for the system to adjust their post count.

After reading this as a mod please go back and go over it putting yourself in my shoes. I think it will give you a good understanding where I am coming from.

Cheers and keep up the good work on the site Wade

Second paragraph in the sticky -
These posts must be in the relevant sections of the site which disincludes regional and off topic. "Post whoring" of useless posts repeatedly to get to the 50 post limit will result in an infraction.
Newbies area - this area is for commonly asked and already covered questions. Doesn't really contribute to the site since all the information covered in there is already available throughout the rest of the site.

Regional - this area is the same as off topic, just limited to a specific geographical area.

Off Topic - No way. It's too easy to ***** posts in OT, and we're quite serious about requiring members to contribute before they're granted the privilege to buy/sell here. Counting the posts in OT would disregard that.

Put bluntly, the only way the rule is changing is if it's made more strict, not less.

I am shocked that you do not see the problems this rule creates.

If I understand this right you want to see newbs who don't know jack try and contribute to a topic they don't know jack about? Posts in the ewbie post should count! Tell me why you fell it is needed to fight this idea. Tell me how it helps.

honestly... wow lol I cant believe the newbie post dont count LOL! So newbs cant sell items on the forums because of this restriction yet this is the one section they should be posting in to learn about the car... but if they search, then they find what they are looking for meaning they dont have to post.... so in a perfect world, a newb can NEVER have 50 post???? lolol Then they DO post something then they get flamed for being a newb. Is this hazing or something? lol

honestly i just posted all over show and shine saying "nice car!!!" even if i didnt think so lol

Did you mean you get posts asking for an exception to the rule? That is not what I am asking for.

OP:
I am and have been pushing for 100 posts and 6 months/12 months in order to use the marketplace. I believe in more restrictions rather than a lessening of our current ones. My reasoning is simple:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ml#post6487057

I handle at least a half-dozen scam complaints a WEEK. The other Staff members also handle their share. Look through the marketplace and Site Feedback, people keep asking : "How did this happen, where were the Mods??" Well, we're here and actively trying to keep our members as safe as we can with what tools we can use. I feel the 100/6-12 upgrade would help. Thanks for your thread, it always brings this topic back up for discussion among Staff.

Wade Jarvis,

Hi and welcome!

I do appreciate your comments and thank you for taking the time to write a clear opinion of our rules. Our rules concerning post count were born out of a desire to provide a speed bump for scammers and a deterrent for 'drive by' sellers. We consider access to the Market Place a privilege earned and fair trade for positive contributions to our community. We have to quantify meaningful participation somehow and value participation in our technical forums above all others. That is reason Lancer enthusiast from all over the world visit this site.

Isn't the core of your argument a request to reduce the effort it takes to participate in the community and become eligible to sell on this site? I feel you are offering solutions without a problem relative to our goals of providing a small measure of protection for our members. We have no plans to change the current requirements. Thanks.

only thing i find rediculous is the NEWB section.. lol Change that, raise the limit to 100 post and thats your answer. The newb section not counting is a little insane lol

I agree with the mods on this one...but you know what I hate....when I make a well thought out post and the thread for whatever reason ends up getting deleted, and back down goes my post count. but thats life...
