Do you read car magazines?
Do you read car magazines?
Can anyone recommend me a good car magazine to read/subscribe to? anything that would boost my knowledge on tuner cars (evo,sti,rx-7,gtr etc..)
i know this forum is the ultimate source when it comes to an evo but i want to have atleast some basic tuning knowledge like most of you guys do when it comes to cars so i can join/chime in on some of the discussions here and learn even more as i come along.
thanks

From an Evo/import perspective, two of the better magazines were Sport Compact Car and Turbo & High-Tech Performance, both of which have been closed by their publisher within the last month or two. Both my subscriptions were converted over to Modified magazine - haven't seen an issue yet, so I can't comment on it, but I already noticed a distressingly high number of girls on the website, which tells me it'll probably be more flash than substance. I ditched Super Street several years ago because it became way too much about body kits and ICE, not enough about performance.
Interestingly enough, most of the magazines mentioned in this thread have/had the same publisher - Source Interlink. It would not surprise me if they shut down a few more of their magazines due to the economy and the faltering performance aftermarket. If you have subscriptions to these, beware the dreaded postcard from Palm Coast, FL.

I used to subscribe to them, but I always got the sense they were more about budget builds - using 10+ year-old cars and scrounging around in junk yards for parts. That's not the way I want to acquire my AMS/Buschur/WORKS/etc. parts.
Have they changed at all? I might take them up on the free issue offer to test them out.
