How you got your Evo
Graduated from college and 6 months later found a pretty decent paying job. Barrow some money from my brothers and sister for down payment and bought a new 05 Evo VIII. The salesman was really cool. Didn't try to play the number games or anything. Just sat us down and told us how low he could go.
Well in my case its Evos..well was. lol
My senior year I started working for my cousin doing computers and making decent money for 18. My car at the time was a 2001 PT Cruiser with like 95k on the clock. When I traded it in for my second car a 2007 Cobalt SS/SC it had like 112k on it.
Well I had my Cobalt for about 7 months and then found out that I could buy a brand new Evo IX MR. I thought it would take them a lot longer then 9 months of work to finance me. So I traded the Cobalt and put down around $6k on my MR. My interest rate at the time was pretty crappy around a 10.5 or something but I didn't care I just wanted an Evo. It was something that I dreamed about the whole time I was in high school and with insurance costs and all I didn't think I'd have one till I was 21 or older.
Well I did my fair share of mods to the car and put about 39k very awesome and problem free miles on the care in a year and a half. Around this time my father passed away. Well I was going to pay off my car but decided to just sell my car and purchase the green Evo VIII I have now from my friend for cash. I've known him for about 2 years and knew the whole history of the car all the shows and magazines its been in. A show car for the most part. I also knew he didn't beat the car. More or less putted around in it.
I was going to put $10k down on it and put the rest into a CD but the interest rate I would make on the CD was less then the money I would pay in interest on the loan so like I said before I just paid off my Evo 8.
Now that I have no car payments I can save loads of money.
Pretty much sums it up.

Sold a 94 rx7 and 02 wrx in august and september with the idea of saving money. Bought a 95 240 in september, didnt like it too much. Figured id sell that and get an even cheaper car. Sold it in December. Realized i like cars and it was my hobby and found an awesome evo for sale in Utah. Flew to salt lake city at 5 am last friday, bought my evo, and drove back 20 hours noon on saturday back to st. louis
took me 6 months to find the right evo, put 7k down and financed 22,400. bought the car with 20,000 miles. im very very happy i waited to find the right evo and not jump into the first one i found
I have always wanted an evo when they came to the states. It was my dream car. So I figured out that I could afford the car now with my job and everything. I found one that I wanted and went to the bank on my birthday when I turned 20 and got approved and financed 20K and bought my dream car the next day. Now just saving for more parts.

I started working when I was 16, well a couple weeks before my 16th bday, not that it matters, had 3 jobs when i was 17, cut back a little to 2 jobs when i was 18, worked 2 jobs non stop, Finally had enough money (all by myself with no cosigner - no one likes financing young people with no cosigners) when I was 19 to have a down payment on my evo 8, while still working 2 jobs up untill i was 20. Paid off the evo the year after I got it. (Paid off at age 20) Dumped quite a bit of money into the evo, Still working a lot. at 22 I traded in my evo 8 for my evo X, and put down some cash with it. Still financing, but i love 0% financing! Hoping that with once I finally list some parts up for sale, I can get closer to paying off my X, or some bills. And I turn 23 in 2 weeks!!!! YEA!!!

- THE END -
Graduation present from high school (early, got it in March of '04, so ~3 months before graduation). I was 17, had already had loads of auto-x experience in the family's S2000 and wanted an Evo since I was about 15. I wasn't going to get one (we're not super loaded and I'm not super spoiled) but my dad had a condo in San Fran that sold for double what we bought it for (180 to 360k) he paid off a lot of stuff with it and then bought my car new for 27k before ttl (Mitsu friends and family discout FTW). The current car I did a lot of research and looking around to find the perfect deal on the perfect car... And then lots of effort in getting a good amount out of the old Evo, plus I had saved up 5k. Now I'm trying to sell it to get something that will lower my monthly payments a little... or a lot... Paying for a car while in college full-time is not super easy...
I had a 2000 Eclipse, and always wanted an Evo and after college I started looking for one and I found a great deal 7 hours away. My dad works at a dealership and one weekend the family went up to Colorado from Nebraska and stayed the weekend and got my new car! My dad ran the car through the dealership and I traded in my car for the Evo. Bought the Evo for 16,500 w/ 62k miles bearly modified, only had AEM intake, lowering springs, and painted stock wheels. So I showed my Eclipse as a trade in for 5,000 and only paid taxes on 11,500 and I put down 2,600 so my loan was for around 14,000. So far i've only made 4 payments. Got 12,500 left on the loan. And I still own my Eclipse, that I'm trying to sell.
I was planning on getting an STI, but would browse on Evom just in case for fun, found a IX SE w/ 6k miles on here for under $25,000, so I did everything possible to get approved for a loan since it's next to impossible now, especially being a full time student, even though I work almost 40 hours/wk as well. So, my job did a little stretching of the truth on how much I work, and I got the loan approved, sold my car to a Volkswagen dealership for a few grand less then I should have, but I didn't care as long as I got the EVO, so I sold my car, bought a plane ticket to Nebraska, and flew out picked it up, and drove it all the way home by myself. Been happy ever since, except I don't make enough to do anything else to it right now, so it sucks not being able to mod, but ohwell...in time.
had a 2000 audi s4 biturbo. too many things started going wrong which was costing me an arm and a leg. went to my local mitsu dealership and bought my car brand new in sept 05. got the 0% financing deal at the time.
