EVO purchase? Help

hello. I am looking to buy an evo and then i would put money into it and upgrade it to around 400 hp or 450. Anyways i found this 06 MR evo for just under 10k. The only problem with it is it was a theft recovery and is missing lights, bumpers, spoiler, headers, turbo, battery, radio, shift knob, intake, wastegate, and intercooler + piping, Exauhst.

So i was thinking if i bought it would it be worth it to put parts into it? i was looking into parts like ams fmic, FP red turbo, TBE, and so on..
It would cost me around 6 or 7 k for all these upgraded parts where i would probably be close if not meet my goal of 400. I could probably stock parts for about 3-4 k.
Here are a few pictures let me know if i missed any parts in the engine - this was a rough estimate.

btw it has a clean title

Wow! Do you know if the motor is still good? Looks rough but with something like that, you would have to be there in person to give it a thorough inspection...still dosen't tell you much about the motor, transmission and transfer case/differentials.

Don't take the stress of buying that. Might as well buy a used VIII for around 16k and at least it'll be running good already. Don't waste your time, money, and energy on that Evo since it's pretty much full of problems for sure.

Yea i was thinking that this probably isnt a great idea, but they have some wrecked evos with perfectly good engines so maybe i could get a deal on some engine parts. But it is really sketchy because i don't even know the miles on the car. I might go down and see the condition of the car and see if it is as bad as it looks. The transition and suspension are perfect, i talked to the people at the shop it is just far away so i don't want to waste my time going out there for nothing.

It's a crap shoot, might work out just fine for you or it could be the biggest headache ever.

They're right. I'd be weary about buying a car that you can't even start up to make sure the engine runs good. Its a big chance. If they blew the motor trying to get the car someplace and limped it back to the "chop shop" then you're stuck rebuilding more than you expected or replacing the engine. risky IMO.

the turbo and body parts to fix it is going to run you like 6-8k... why not just get a GOOD IX for 18-19k and save yourself all the trouble? If your goin to upgrade you can sell the stock parts off your evo

Plus your gona need paint on that car... good paint job is 2-4k right there

Id also like to note, you can get "wrecked" evos, with LESS damage then that for the same price on ebay... some of the ones on ebay only need body parts.

maybe if that one was 6-7k but not 10k

This one has a clean title and even if i fix it with stock parts the trade in value for an 06 mr is around 21-22. But i decided against it because the dealership doesn't know the mileage because its missing a battery, so i could buy it and have to fix it up when the car has 100k miles on it. maybe just wait a couple months and buy a clean IX

if the car is like dirt cheap then maybe. say $2000 but that's probably not going to happen.

Yeah no way in hell would I pay 10K for that. If you just needed body parts and new engine parts you'd probably spend 5K, if you got it off a doner car. At that point...you're saving 1-2K when you could get one that works. That's assuming that the thing will actually run. It's just a crapshoot to save a few K, I really don't think it's worth it. Plus when you do sell it, you're not going to get **** for it, so that few thousand will be made up on resale difference anyway.
