JDM 4g63 swap???
Quick question for a friend of mine.
couldnt find a thread about it so i figued i can ask you guys.
he owns a 2003 Evo VIII and would like to know if a jdm 4g63 motor would be a driect drop in? He blew up his motor....obviously if its the same motor for that year just JDM?. or is there something different like bolt pattern to the motor mounts?, etc.
and same thing goes if it were a EVO IX?
thanks

What??????
Why?????
I'm pretty sure it's the exact same thing as the USDM version but it's probably missing some sensors or something that'll make the swap retardedly hard when you're getting the exact same motor as if you had just used the USDM one.
please don't tell me he just wants to say he has a JDM motor in his car

no he wanted a replacment lol. he really likes his evo but doesnt want to sell it. so he thought maybe ill just buy a replacment motor. JDM motor...unless you think he should just look for a UDSM one?
i mean swaping a JDM 4G63 would be a mistake and not make the motor not run right/or car?
that doesnt sound good.

ya, I don't know about the 4G63 for sure but I know most Jdm motors don't have all the emissions stuff that we have here and our ecu's look for these sensors in order to pass emissions or maybe even run properly at all.
Tell him to just stick with the USDM motor. I'm almost positive it's the same.
