New to EvoM thinking about trading my current car for an evo

Hi all, My name is Zack, and i Currently own a 2001 BMW M roadster, and a 2004 VW Golf R32. I have been thinking about trading/selling the R for something that handles better, and is faster. A few dats ago i spotted a white 06 MR for sale at a local dealership. I am going to take a look at it in a couple of days to see if i like it. I just wanted to know if there is anything in particular that i need to look for? I've been looking through the faq/n00b threads a little, but i want to know if this price is reasonable, its an 06 MR bone stock, 30k miles, and the dealer is asking $26k. I think that is a little high, but i'm not really sure. Thanks in advance for the help.

you will love the evo but i would try to keep the r32 as your daily or the beamer, the evo realy is not the best daily driver in the world, especialy if you going to bring to the track or mod.just my exprience with my evo, bought a gti and i love it as my daily driver,i do have on 03 evo thought that breaks alot.maybe you will have better luck with an 06 just more of a race car on the street then you other two cars.the clutch is going to go,your going to have boost leaks, oils gets eaten up real quick, and these are to name some of the minir thing thats def going to happen, broken transfer cases, head gasket, those are not so monor things that will proably happen to.

If your modding it I would not suggest the MR unless you intend to replace the transmission. But the EVO's AWD will out perorm both of those cars.

If your only doing minor mods The IX MR will be fine but anything over 450whp your beginning to push the 6 spd tranny, especially if you intend to race it!!

I don't plan on doing much more than intake, exhaust, tuning, and suspension. I love to auto-x, i want something that can be daily driven, but i can take it to an auto-x once a month or so, and have some fun

it is an MR, the suspension should be okay as a DD.

The MR is the a great DD. Better susp. and gearing for auto-x and dd. If you want to mod it go ahead but anything past 450 whp and your tranny might have issues. Also open road racing can cause 6sp. trannies to heat up and cause failure but in certain circumstances not all. Do yourself a favor and don't ask these quest. in a newb section its here for a reason. Do your own research on these cars in depth to get the best info. Most members go by hear say so don't take one piece of advice into consideration.

That's just a common miss conception that all of the 6 spd mr evos have weaker gearing, when in fact there are alot of very quick 6 speeds around that have no problems what so ever.
