i must've skipped over a break-in schedule in the manual. i got a used '08 with 470 miles on it, now it has 1,050. the only scheduled maintenence i found is supposed to be at 5000 miles. i was always told every 3000 miles, even with synthetic oil in a turbocharged engine.

Opinions will vary, but I did mine right around 1k miles. The break-in oil looked horrible in color. DO IT!

Check ALL your fluids NOW , many of these cars come with very low fluid levels . I changed all my fluids at about 650 miles - just to be sure ...

I've changed the oil of both of my Evos (when new) between 1000-1500 miles, as the previous posters have said. Look at it this way, it's only $40 that has to be spent once, when it will just help your car possibly run more smoothly.

i just changed it now, damn that was black for only 1000 miles! schuck's only had 4 qts left of mobil 1 so i used valvoline synthetic. does anyone know if their claim of 4x more wear protection than mobil 1 holds any truth? i've been using mobil 1 for 10 years now, and if grand-am race teams use it in the daytona 24 hrs, thats pretty good to me......

i stuck with mobil 1 on my oil changes, nothing else. when i built my engine, a couple of well known shops said to switch to regular oil because they had problems with oil pumps failing with the synthetic. Dont worry though, it was only on highly modded cars, yours should be fine. i guess it would just be personal preferance, but i would stick with the mobil 1, just my 2 cents
