I will go try that now.

Just knocked on it. It sounds hollow to me. Also, the risers are painted black to match the car.

You got a metal DV (diverter valve) which is also indication of a IX.

If you have an SE you can check by looking to see if it has an aluminum roof (has ridges on each side of the roof), and if you have fogs (and have a 5-speed).
Can you explain what you mean by ridges on each side of the roof? The roof has a slight "aerodynamic bump" that runs the length of the roof on each side. Is that what you are talking about? Also, about the fog lights, I don't have them (as you can see from the picture); however, there is some sort of adjuster dial to the left of my steering wheel that has a headlight icon. I don't know what that does. I think I tried to play with it when I first bought the car but noticed no differences. Oh, and the car is a 5-speed.

Somthing tells me that the previous owner made a quick buck right as he traded it in selling interior as well as the bumper to other owners

That's the ridge I'm talking about. The adjuster dial adjusts the heads up/down. Now I'm confused, I'm pretty sure it's a IX, and since you have the aluminum roof+5 speed it HAS to be the SE. What's throwing me off is that you don't have fogs UNLESS the guy that had it before you swapped his heads to make some cash, for some halogens.

P.S. I can't really tell from the pics but it actually looks like you do have the fogs. They are in the headlights, the inner most beam, (middle is high, outer is low) if those turn on you have them. Right next to the dial should be another button for them.

Oh, haha. I've never had to use that in my other cars (or this one, apparently). That's good to know.

Well that would explain some of the scuff marks on all of the interior's pillars. Seems like an awful lot of work though if he just replaced them with decent parts. What color is the IX's interior normally?

All black, suede in the middle, leather on the outer edge. Does the dash have a carbon fiber strip? Or is it plain grey? And check for those fogs.

That means though that he would still have the fog switch inside (obviously not wired if that were the case).

everything on your car appears as an viii, my guess is the person that owned the car before you had a friend with an viii and swapped everything from his viii to your ix before he traded the car in.. light,bumper,wheels,seats,ect..

or it has been in a bad crash and not put back together with the right parts ether way i would gather up some info and go down to the dealer and raise hell, hoping its a mits dealer if not your screwed
