amplifier use

How exactly will i benefit from buying an amp?
i have the rockford package and the system is nice but people are telling me that my music quality will sound better with an amp?

i really dont understand how pushing more power will make the sound better..

You dont want to add an amp to your stock speakers. If you had replaced your speakers already, then YES an amp would be the way to go. It is always better to over power a speaker than to underpower it. You get loud with less distortion.

There are digital sound processors, such as the JL cleansweep, that will make it sound oh so much better. But obviously if you want to spend a WHOLE LOTTA MONEY replacing everything is the cleanest (depending on what audio you get)

oh and obviously if you adding an aftermarket amp to your STOCK stuff, you are gonna blow it out in a heartbeat, so for those of you guys with all stock stuff. pretty much stock stuff is set up to match everything that is with it. ie: the amp in the radio or seperate amp matches the speakers.

Has anyone out there customized their trunk and mounted subs and/or amp ? I've seen a few pics of boxes sitting it the trucks, but with the Evo power/handling, that wouldn't last long

Sorry I thought it was funny. You can underpower a speaker all you want, just think of it when you have your radio down low and your subs are rated at 500 watts rms, they are not always receiving that much.

Sorry for off topic

my whole thing was just dont add an amp to the stock speakers. and if you are going to replace your speakers its pointless to replace it with an amp that is underpowering it because when most people listen to their music they tend to turn the volume up, which when in this case you are underpowering your speakers, this is what harms the speakers.
