Interested in going wingless
I'd like to get a second trunk and be able to switch out my wing when I'd like.
So what are my options for doing this?
The rs trunk is wingless and I could get it painted. Or I could get another trunk and have the holes filled and also painted, but I was curious if I could get a regular lancer trunk and use that? If so what year would I need to match up to a IX.
What was the best/cheapest route people have taken before?

Cheapest? Pick up some vinyl overlays to match the color of your car and use them to cover your holes (I had the sign shop cut them into circles for me, nickle and quarter size is what I used). I got them for FREE. I asked for any scraps and they were cool enough to cut them into circles for me. But, they will run you about $15 depending where you go and how much you get.
That's a really old quarter by the way..I think early 1940's..

Yeah, I'm doing something similar to that currently but am looking for a more permanent solution that will allow me to switch it back and forth relatively quickly.
almost like silvershadow, i went to some place in the mall that made car stickers and had them cut me a 2"x4" sparkling silver sheet. i went home and cut out circles to match, and you couldn't even tell that my car had holes covered with stickers. pretty durable too. if the guy is cool he'll give it to you for free.
Get a carbon fiber trunk. This may seem more expensive, but by the time you pay someone to patch holes, and/or have it repainted you may actually come out cheaper. Also dont forget theres a wiring harness to mess with too!
i was about to say I HATE THE WINGLESS LOOK. my evo is currently sitting like this because my apr gtc 300 spoiler base stands were not in the correct location im currently having evodave mod it for me . I went ahead and mounted my cf trunk, but the easiest way is to get a cf trunk period if you comb for deals you can find them around. I just got mine last week mounted now of course for 350 shipped off ebay. yes its a VIZ trunk and perfect. I dont care what people say if you cover the holes with a sticker or the like if you stare at it you will know its covered by a sticker. You act like it blends in on a level surface dont think so. Now if you just look at it and keep the eyes rolling then i can see how you would not notice. Besides you need to decide either go wingless and stay that way maybe add one of those small rexspeed lip spoilers or keep OEM or get another spoiler in general. All i know is the OEM trunk + Spoiler Weights A TON. my Viz is 10 pounds

I guess I'll have to wait and consider a carbon fiber trunk then. Can you paint those? I'm trying to go with a more subdued look then stock, not more outrageous, I'm tired of driving by cops and having them turn around and follow me for 20 minutes before they find something more important to do.

I kinda got use to the wing look. But if I were to go wingless id get a cf trunk, and a vortex generator, with a jdm rear bumper, that'd look insane. And yeah I say either get a cf trunk or try and find an rs trunk in the part out section or locally

Yeah, I'm going with the jdm rear soon. When I bought the car It had a 2 inch scrape on the bumper so the plan has always been to go with the jdm rear, and I already have my vg, just want to touch up a paint chip on the roof before I put it on.
Once this is all done and over with, I'm done with cosmetics, and on to the good stuff.

Just looked at that one online. I personally don't like it. Anyone else know of any that use factory holes that aren't so "Hey you! Yeah you Mr. Cop sir! Pull my *** over!" ?
