My First "Rally car"

Hello everyone!
I'll start off by saying I've allways wanted an Evo/Sti and after tons of research I decided to go with the Evo and so far I'm glad I did and got the helluva deal that I did considering how broke I am after funding this TDI Cup race season for me. This is my first awd turbo car and while I know a lot about n/a motors that doesn't help a whole lot when it comes to these 4g63's.
The car I bought is a 03 Evo 8 in silver and has a turbo xs intake(filthy), turboback exhaust and greddy rs bov. It's also got 48k on it so I don't know how far I want to go with it besides I bought an extended full warrenty on the car for 1 year that covers everything but the clutch (oboviously). The only problems with the car are it has a slowly leaking front diff and idk if this is normal on awd cars but when doing tight turning it like makes kinda soft clunk noises.
After having the car for a couple days now I'd like to take it some where to get it run on a dyno and tuned. Knowing the mods the car already has what can I expect to get with a good tune, also should I buy a boost controller? I want as much power as I can possibly get without cams since I can't do internal mods.
Can I realistically get 350awhp or more? I'd be willing to toss the exhaust that one there once it gets inspected to block to tip race exhaust without cats or anything to make it easier.

I got the windows tinted yesterday and spent like 4hrs on ebay last night looking for some stuff for the car and ordered a perrin 2' antenna, omega turbo timer, better pedals, cf shift knob, CF radio plate and some other cosmetic goodies.

As usual no thread is any good without pics so here are some as it sits right now.

welcome, looks decently clean. there should be no tranny oil leaks at all. have it covered under warranty because it can be anything from a shaft seal or worn drive shafts. the spoiler doesn't have the sun damaged peeling(CF) which is good. the clunk can be normal if it is fully locked turn but should be absent in normal turns.

congrats on the purchase..
and that Lotus looks sweet too..
And about the tune.. I had mine tuned with intake, MBC, TBE with high flow cat, EVO IX BOV, using 93 octane with 22 psi, and I made 326... So if you get few more things, you will make 350

See I can't get it under warranty cause it was a pre existing condition. I got such a good deal im not worried about it as long as its under 1000$ to fix the leak. Sounds like I got a problem with the steering then case its not full lock. I guess I'll take it to Mitsu and get all this crap figured out, I knew I bought kinda a lite project that needed like 2g's in it to be perfect again I just hope I didn't get a basket case!

As long as I can make a jump in at least 50hp/50tq from where I'm at for now ill be ok. whenever I feel the engine is solid ill throw some 280s in it and pray I dont have a problem.

Also the clutch pedal is way stiffer than anything i've driven, even the lotus I'm thinking its a stage 2 in there idk.
Any stuff you guys reccomend I get for it safety wise or best bang for the buck anything?

Congrats on the purchase. Car looks really clean. Def throw on a boost controller and get it tuned. As for bang for the buck mods I have a few ideas. Shifter bushings gave my transmission a much better feel. I have only done the shifter cable bushings but plan to do the shifter base soon. I would also recommend changing all of your drivetrain fluids. I just changed mine at almost 15,000 miles and my car feels like it glides nicer. Tranny sure does shift smoother also thanks to my amsoil.

There is a lot of great info on this forum. Sometimes it just requires a little bit of time. Here is a great link to take a look at: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...g-dummies.html

Good luck man and I know you will love the car.

The elise is not pink, its ardent red. The lighting made it that way as other colors are off hue.

I guess i'm gonna jsut have to get 280 cams, I know with cams and full exhaust I should be able to get 400. Just have to install my self then and take to slowboys dyno.
