Talking 1996 Lancer GSR

Hey Guys,

Not new to evo m but first time I'm posting, taking on a big project soon so i will most likely need help

Anyways heres my car

1996 Lancer GSR (JDM)
4G93T
TD04
1.8L
AWD
Tiptronic

Car is mostly stock but heres whats on it
K&N intake
2.5" Turbo back exhaust (No Cat)
KYB Gas Adjustable Shocks and Struts.
Upgraded torque converted with higher stall

I know its not too common of a model, only sold in Japan, I bought it here in Grenada. Came running ok but had major suspension issues which i sorted out.

Best 1/4mile time so far is 14.5sec @ 12psi on pump gas

:: The project ::
Evo 8 engine and transmission swap!

I'm also an admin for a new motor sport website in Grenada, please check it out!!

Nice car. They can cause a lot of confusion because of their similarities to Evos.

nice car. I use to have a 94 Lancer GSR. Its a good little car and pretty fun to drive. I put a 16G evo3 turbo, full evo 2 exhaust, and evo 3 front mount on it with a whole evo 2 front. Everything bolted right on. Who knows the Evo 4 or 5 turbo might be able to bolt right on to yours and with a few other supporting mids you should be able to get some good power out of it. I know the stock 4g93t can take about 1 bar from a 16g. Anyways nice car and welcome.

Its a 4g93 not a 4g63. Its a good little engine but the week point is the conrods. So the most it can handle is about 1 bar on an 16g. If you want to go anywhere above 1 bar with an evo 5 16g bolt on turbo then you will have to built up the bottom end. But since his project is to do a Evo 8 4g63 swap with all the supportings then there is nothing to worry about...

I assume the evo 8 motor should basically drop in, the hard part would be the wiring harness and such. The auto to manual swap should be interesting.

Thanks for all the responses guys, the only reason i didn't want to stick with the 4G93 is because of the lack of aftermarket support for the engine, and the engine itself is very rare, i have a friend that has been looking for a manual gearbox for his for over 2 years

Will definitely post the project status once its begun.

Thanks again!

Yeah. I was about to say the mounts are differnt on the 93 and 63. Its deffinatly going to be a project to get that in there. As far as support for the 93 look toward the UK and Australia. They love that engine and car over there. I was apart of some of the forums a while back but really not any more and I dont remember the names of them. Maybe even Thailand and the Philipines might have some stuff for it.

I'm the dude's friend who's been looking for a Manual box for his 4G93 GSR just like his. I recently found one in Barbados though, should be coming to Grenada soon.

I don't own the car anymore though, traded with my brother and then bought an Evo, yeah I sold out on my 4G93 GSR

Oh and the link he provided to the website was wrong, its: www.gndtuners.com
