CEL on, "fuel lean" only few mods .. normal ?

ok just bought a 2006 evo with 50k on her, bone stock..
so i get a full turbo back exhaust, injen intake, and upper and lower i/c piping, boost gauge put on asap, aside from lowering springs and wheels.. blah blah..
the car feels like 5 times faster then it did stock.. drove it for about 5 days.. then today the check engine light went on.. swung by auto zone for a code pull and it says "fuel lean" e70 or something .. i forget the code number but it said fuel lean..
first thoughts, fuel pump ?
i heard the stocker can handle bolt ons ? but again the car pulls alooot harder then it did before these mods
coming from a 650hp dsm so i am familiar with the engine and setup and what not, but the gsx had stock 450's and i believe the evos are 550's and the pump was a little beefier.. any thoughts
anyone already go through this...
thanks

Haven't seen that code get thrown commonly. Does the car have a wideband in it? Definitely throw a flash in it...the car will run a million times better. BTW...congrats on the Evo Drew!

Nah. I ran my car on the stock pump for a couple months with the same mods you have...made somewhere around 350 w/ a tune. PM Peteyturbo for a flash. He's in the NE Philly area.

I suspect unmetered air. Check for leaks around the MAF and throttle.

P0171 Bank 1 lean. That's my guess and it's because of your fuel trims. You need a tune period. I don't understand why people think you can put all those parts on and not get tuned. The part that's causing the Lean condition, is the Intake. You can get away with a drop-in panel filter with out a tune, but a cone must be tuned.

A tune will fix your lean problem and make the most out of your mods

ok well your wrong period.. i have a bad brake booster causing a leak when im on the brake at a light..the 2 times the cel came on i was at 751rpm and 801 and both times the throttle was completely closed and the code got thrown when the car was at 0mph..not to mention my pedal was hissing at me when i was on it and my boost gauge was jumping in vaccuum when i was touchging the brake. so thanks but ur wrong.. i have 2 friend with the same mods who have no problems. and have no tune.. its an intake and exhaust.. i prolly could get a tune and get some more power from her but your crazy to say thats why its running lean it needs a tune because of an intake..

Cold air intakes can make the car run lean there are many members on this site that will say the same thing. Running an exhaust without a tune is safe, but you should at least check your air fule ratios if you have an aftermarket intake. Running lean is very dangerous for your engine, and not a risk worth taking.

Also your brake system is in no way connected to your engine intake. THere is no reason that pushing the brake should effect your boost pressure unless maybe you have a boost line that is getting squashed by the brake pedal when you push it in.

using a metal intake tube can cause 2 things, it to run lean or rich!! most of the time not to dangerous levels but it can!! if you want to run an intake without a tune throw the plastic intake back on it and you can leave whatever cone filter on you you like and not have any problems!!! and the reason its doing that at idle is because it is a closed loop problem!! which means it more then likely is from your intake throwing off your MAF, injen is so common for that!!! so, get a tune and fix it... or throw the plastic pipe back in!!! the plastic pipe will work great with a cone filter without a tune... pry feel better then it does now!
