Everyone that I know who runs the HKS has had issues with the car. IXs don't respond well to VTA BOVs on the stock ECU. I wouldn't do it, it's a lot of money for a noise. A very annoying ricer noise at that. If you want something that's a middle ground I would suggest the APS twin vent BOV. For the most part it recircs but under heavy conditions it vents partially to atmosphere. But the stock DV is where you should stay imo.

Your money could be spent better elsewhere. I've been running the stock one since I bought the car in 2007. Worked fine at 24.5lbs of boost and works fine at 28lbs of boost. Who cares about the sound! It's all about how well it functions.

Listen up noobs. The HKS BOV is a great in the sense that it holds an extreme amount of boost. The problem is the valve seems to operate at it's best when running VTA. So now the problem with running VTA with the EVO 8 & 9 is the 03-04' will stall out on every shift. The 05-06 won't stall out but when making a fare amount of boost at part throttle lets say merging on the highway the BOV will want to pull I think it has something to do with the pressure change in vacum in our cars. The other problem is your fuel economy suffers from running VTA BOV's. Even if you shift at low RPM's just cruising around town the MAF and ECU are looking for air routed back to the intake and when it doesn't see that it just dumps fuel in between shifts. Oh yeah one other bad thing about running VTA. Let say you go WOT in 4th gear and you want to gently let off the throttle the MAF and ECU expects to see a large amount of air back in the intake stream when it doesn't see that it dumps alot of fuel and the car violently will buck you around.

There are only 3 I would suggest stock evo 9 diverter valve, APS Twin vent BOV, or Synapse BOV. They offer no sound but they will hold alot of boost and drive like stock. Trust me I used to have the HKS BOV in my car based off my previous use of it for my Turbo Civic(no MAF). But after installing it and running it for 2 years it was time to throw that thing in the garbage

it all depends on the car and your application

you'll learn that a large majority of the people on here consider it rice when i think it is in fact not. its YOUR car do what YOU want. I love my VTA HKS BOV. I love the sound. Its on my evo 8 with full VTA and i don't have any issues running it. No stalling out, NOTHING. each car can run it with different results. It holds more boost than the stock one so how is that considered rice? Plus i got it for $60 since a buddy of mine switched to a greddy.

Your car do what you want. And please people stop throwing around rice so much. Were not talking about a civic reviving its engine at every single car that it sees.

I never called it rice but I guarantee if I datalog your car your running rich with ever shift. Try this in 4th gear go WOT and slightly and gently pull off the throttle.....you will change your comment about running it or any BOV VTA when using the stock MAF

I wasn't saying you were, there are others in here that are tho. I guarantee i am too i already know that. I'm giong to be switching off the factory ecu eventually. I believe I have already done that, i do it everyday. The main road i take to my university is 50mph and i do 4th gear wot all the time and stay in 4th on that road. So i believe i do do that with no bucking issues, unless i'm not letting off slow enough idk. But like i said i don't have really any driveability issues at all. I was honestly suprised.
