boost gauge issues...

ive had my 03 evo 8 for about a month now. the guy b4 me apparently took out the old boost gauge, so bought an aftermarket one from autzone, jus to get readings. installed it best i could. and yet it doesnt seem to work right. the only time the needle moves in the gauge is when im pretty close to WOT, but only goes up to 10psi. and when cruising it sits at 0psi. i didnt find any leaks of any sort. btw hooked it up T way between BOV and intake manifold. could it really only be making 10psi? or is there some hidden leak? not sure if other boost gauges sit at 0 most of the time...and if i change out the plastic tubing that connects to the T to rubber tubing, then just b4 the gauge back to plastic, would that effect the psi reading?

if it has a negative reading on ur gauge, it should read around -15 anytime ur idling, the only time it should be 0 is when the car is off. check the back of the gauge for the plastic might be ripped causing huge boost leak. also the t should be tapped into the fuel pressure regulator line. i have mine set up with vaccum hose on the t, then plastic into the cabin, then fuel hose to the back of the gauge to avoid ripping. the plastic tends to get firm and rip when its bent

What does it read when its off? Also do you have the stock oem gauges? Just use a t from that gauge

its a crappy gauge from auto zone. sunpro boost psi gauge. 0-30. shortened the hosing. ran it thru a diff point. but still sits at 0 until close to WOT and only had it go up to 11 psi with WOT in 4th gear.

Not rlly. My gauge doesn't have negative readings. Simply a 0-30 sunpro boost psi gauge. It might be the gauge it might be the line I tapped into. Bov to far right intake manifold vacuum line. not sure if there's anything else wrong with the solenoid or its hoses. Maybe previous owner had a bad tune and set it that low to keep from blowing it. No clue.

Why didn't you try what he just told you? You are pulling vacuum from the incorrect place. I doubt it's an issue with the gauge.

Best guide I've ever seen for tapping into fpr. Thx. So u suggest rubber off the T fitting back into the car then to the original plastic into the gauge correct?

incorrect, if the plastic is installed directly to the back of the gauge, it will rip soon after. do rubber vaccum hose all the way to the back of the gauge. if that wont fit into ur firewall, then do rubber then plastic into the firewall, then rubber again directly into the back of the gauge. zip tie both ends where the rubber meets the plastic

Alrighty. Installed an autometer boost gauge, has -30 to 30 and when idling its bout -10 to -15 and when cruising its about -10 and WOT about +10.
I'm guessing tha means I'm only getting 10 pounds of boost?
