Confirmed..Internal parts of the tranny are same as Santa Fe 2004 and Mitsu Outlander..He mentioned a part that all GT-A broke..dont remember the name, but he told me that the discs and some other internal are the same, Same as Water Pump..I saw a GT-A that had a bad water pump and owner got a Outlander Water Pump, Incredible but the same...

Hyundai have had really close ties with Mitsubishi for a long time. Pretty much all their earlier cars 'major parts such as engine and tranny were all sourced from Mitsubishi. Also the first generation of their flagship 'Equus' was a joint project with Mitsubishi.

Also another interesting thing is that S2000 uses 4.1 final gear from Mazda, and Kia Sportage uses 4.77 final gear also from Mazda, and they are interchangeable.

Don't know about Hyundi, but it was developed with Porsch, and they use same/similar unit in one of their vehicles. It is also used in the Galant/VR4.

Mine had done 85k miles, some track time, 345bhp (at the fly) 225hp (at the wheels) and 345 lb/ft.

The transmission shat its self and I have since put a manual 5 speed in it.

I have a GT-A with just over 102.000 kms or approx. 61.000 miles with some mods pushing about 280 ish and driven very hard at times and my auto is holding strong. Doesn't help to much if you go much higher like you plan but at least you know you should be safe to that.....If you don't drive it to full on hard I think til about 350 should be fine.

modding an evo vii gt-a

Hi There..

You have a very nice GT-A out there. lots of mods too. have you encounter any problem on the auto gearbox at 380bhp and any idea on what maximum power the gearbox will hold and have you removed the speed restrictor.

Oh just to be clear as I wasn't at all my GT-a has 275-280 BHP atw not from flywheel so even though i'm not up to the miles (85 thou) when the earlier guy's auto gave up at 61 thou miles and some hard driving my gear box still seem's fine at that level but since I have had it I have not done to many launches(approx 10)...still maybe that helps others when considering how far they can push it.
