22+lbs boost, no tune, bolt ons

So I'm aware I need a tune and wanted to get one done around the holidays when I have time, just wanted to mention that before going on.

The Mods on the car are LICP, TBE w/test pipe, and a perrin intake(new as of today). Up until today(intake install) the boost behaved typically of an evo 9 mr, 21 then down to 17. Now with the intake the boost hits 1.5 bar and maybe just a tiny bit past and held it all the way to redline through 2nd and 3rd.

I was not expecting any gains like that from the intake and since I am yet to buy a wideband, mbc or ebc, and a boost gauge is there anything I should be worried about. Like AFR's leaning out to much or anything I'm not thinking of.

Thanks

dont WOT without a tune.... definately not safe, and the ecu is retarding timing like crazy thus making ur car extra slow even tho u think its pulling harder

i would normally say get a tune or turn down the MBC but you already have those points covered. You need to be careful of leaning out the AFR with the added intake, esp since you have no way of controlling the boost. good list of parts, you should get a AFR gauge to monitor the fuel mixture and try to stay out of boost until you get it tuned properly. also be vigilant of any knock codes that get thrown

So as long as I do not WOT and keep boost under normal levels should I not really worry about my AFR's?. Also I can probably find an MBC and get it on later today, if I did that and then just turned the boost down to say 21 would I be ok?

I would say to be safe, without any logging to see whats going, you want to keep the boost way down below 16psi max. With that said the AFR is another factor that you have to keep an eye on. Personally I feel your ok with AFR if you still have the stock tune because it is typically rich but intakes can really mess with that. Just make sure you change your oil and even pop out a plug to inspect if you are driving the car this way for a while.

You cant suggest a maximum boost he may go lean at and be accurate. Dont, DONT go WOT until you are tuned without monitoring your AFR as mentioned before. We all know how the intakes lean out the factory fuel trim.

u should be 100% fine driving normally... just dont WOT until u get a tune, no matter wat boost u set ur car at, it wont be perfect since ur sucking more air.. once u get ur tune, ur gonna be one happy camper

Well thanks guys, I feel better bout everything, still seems like i was dumping fuel on the short drives I went on at least. Gas needle visibly moved when I got on it, also anyone know a reputable place to get tuned in South Carolina or the DC area?

No. The stock IX plugs are fine.
